>> Our biggest issue at this time is toilet training. He has been going pee on

the toilet for almost 2 years, but only with prompts. I have to remind him or

he goes in his clothes. We have had ups and downs with this. At one point he

started fighting me about going. So I started a puzzle reward system and the

fighting stopped, but still not self initiated too well. There have been a few

times he has went in on his own, but not very many. He can hold it when needed,

on trips, etc. It seems that he is just not recognizing the sensation and

relying on me to prompt him. I tried the lettin him get wet and uncomfortable

method with undies and after a week gave up because it did nothing for him.<<

We have this problem with our 6 year old. If we get him to the potty at least

every 3 hours during the day and 6 during the night, he can stay dry. Otherwise,

he's oblivious to his wet pants (he poops in the potty just fine though). Have

tried everything but no success.

Speaking of inductions, all but the first of our 9 children were born without

any drugs at all anywhere from 9 days early to right on time. And he had only

the typical interventions common 22 years ago. We see no correlation between any

early life events, including vaccines, and our 4 children with ASD.

We are having the opposite problem, getting our daughter to poop in the toilet!! She holds. Shes 8.5. It's so frustrating. Peeing is good unless at night. We have good months and weeks where its not so good.

I was having trouble with the pooping with our son. I know every child is different, but this is what we did that worked with him.

There is a very simple book called "Everyone Poops" by Taro Gomi that I found at our local book store. I started reading it to him and having small discussion about the pages in the book. It shows various different animals going and then shows adults, children, and babies going. It is a little graphic with them sitting on the toilet and all, but is cartooned and not real life photos. It is very simple and your child may be too old for it, but it was great for us. There's also a book called "Where's the Poop?" with the same concept that is lift the flap and shows animals going in their own areas and eventually gets to the point the child has a place to go also.

Then I started a reward system for him. I used food. He loves hostess cupcakes or any cake type treat, I even used angel food cake with cool whip a few times. So, every time he went poop in the potty for me he got a treat. I know the food was not the best choices, but it got him going. Now after 2 weeks he is going every day in the potty with no extra incentive from us and no prompts for it, just going when he goes in to go pee (which we are working on not needing prompts for).
