Good luck with the PT. I agree that student PT is too inexperienced. I hope she

finds a place with a different population of people.

Getting the eval is good.

I thought the good thing about PT and OT for my daughter

was the work on bi lateral coodination. Some of the

stuff they do my daughter was not able to do until

she was about 10 and could ride a 2 wheeler (after a long struggle).

One of the PT Directors told me that 1 hour is not enough a

week and that the parents have to find ways to get our

kids out doing more strength building, bilateral coordination etc.

It helped me to see what she was capable of so I could

encourage my daughter to try more.

It has a place if the therapist is very supportive.

to me was that he saw the reg pt last year and she did well. She knows him well

enough that I did not expect her to say go along with the student PT. I do think

this student Pt needs more experience in special needs children. My son has had

epilepsy since he was 1 1/2. Epilepsy or not I always think its important to not

hit your head. yes, accidents do happen. With this pt it could have been

prevented. My son is also being tested for mitrochondrial disease as he has

little energy. Pushing him further will only cause meltdowns and muscle aches.

It also seems to make the myoclonus jerks worse. He is also going through things

that his legs swell up. I'm not really sure he even needs pt. He mainly goes

just for hypotonia and excersie intolerence. At pt they usually don't do

anything but work on him alternating steps, riding a bike, playing on playground

equipment, and doing range of motion, all of which that can be done at home. We

have discussed putting him in Karate and Little Gym. He probably would get the

same effect from that. I really only need their eval so his doc's know how he is

doing energy wise, and how his hypotonia is doing. I am still undecided if I am

going back there. My husband says he would like to go with!!! I checked on other

pt's and if we have to pay out of pocket ,we are willing just so he is treated

fairly. Thank you all so much for being a listening ear and I pray for all of

you and your families. Our children are going to be some great people that set

the world to better expectations. Take care:)
