Guest guest
Priscilla, IMO, the things that your family is experiencing are not a coincidence! Our family has been on the GAPS diet for about 4 months, I no longer underestimate the power of diet and probiotics to stir things up! My oldest son (age 8) developed severe constipation for about a month (no history of that whatsoever), thankfully now resolved, and he also had a very bad ear infection when he had never been prone to them before. I think his immune and digestive systems are definitely noticing what we're doing, unfortunately it is a long wait to get to the more positive results. But my feeling at this point is that any kind of reaction is a good sign, even if it is not so great in the moment. In my own case, my hand eczema nearly disappeared at the beginning of the diet when we were dairy free, and then came back big-time when we reintroduced yogurt, but now is tapering off again even though I'm still eating yogurt. Detoxing, I think... (or hope) I would say that yes, you can "overdo" the nuts, they are more of an advanced food, perhaps back off a bit on them, and also don't overdo the fruit. At this time of year, you can focus on the berries, which I think are less problematic than some of the sweeter fruits... (That said, the SCD banana pancakes are hard to resist, I cook them with a TON of coconut oil and justify them that way!) The key foods for healing seem to be broths, animal fats, veggies and meats, and fermented foods which is tough to implement with kids, I know (mine are so tired of soups, even though I keep trying new recipes to keep it interesting). Has anyone else had these reactions? I am wondering if any of this could be due to the diet or is it merecoincidence? Maybe a virus.
Guest guest
Thanks for this post . It really fits with a couple things i have noticed and feel a bit reassured. I did not realize we had similar experience w/eczema . I bought milk this week to try the homemade yogurt to push through as you suggested before. I am waiting for the starter to come in Thursday. I hope it is a detox thing and not an issue with being too early Knowing you guys are a few months into and still kind of touch and go symptom wise really helps. I was beginning to think the relapse of symptoms was a clue we need a dif. diet or something. Thanks again for posting this. > > Priscilla, > > IMO, the things that your family is experiencing are not a coincidence!
