Guest guest
Hi everyone, a while ago I had posted that my 4 year old had started vision therapy, and promised an update for anyone interested. We'd been very excited to start this therapy. We saw Dr. Melvin Kaplan of Tarrytown NY. He wrote a fascinating book on the subject, and it just made so much sense to us. The therapy consists of wearing prism glasses and doing daily exercises. The exercises were different each week, and worked on eye tracking and body coordination. After several months, unfortunately, we've had to put this on the back burner. It's too hard for my son to sit still and follow directions, and there is no way to make him look at something when he doesn't want to. He just wasn't motivated to do the exercises so he didn't. I'd still recommend vision therapy for anyone with a child who's more high functioning and calmer than my son. We pray that in the future we'll be able to make use of it.
