I had a reeevaluation meeting at the end of October and as of today evaluations are still not complete. Isn't the time frame 60 days for completion? Clarification would be appreciated. Thanks! Guest guest
I would think so. You should contact whomever is in charge of doing the evaluation and find out what is going on, what is holding things up ect. You should have had a planning meeting to go over what kind of testing was going to be done. Did you do that? If it were me, I would talk to the person who met with me to go over what tests would be administered and ask them why you have not heard anything yet. Also follow up in writing over the conversation. Let them know you expected this done already and want to know why it isn't and when you can expect that it will be completed. Next time, keep in contact with them along the way if you suspect there will be delays or they have a habit of doing that. You might check in with them every so often or ask them how it's going. Or a few weeks before the deadline, mention you had not yet been contacted for an MFE/ETR meeting yet and wondered if they were getting ready to schedule one with you to go over the testing. Guest guest
The school told me they had 60 days to evaluate and provide a report for my son. I was being called in at least once a week because of my son's behavior and at this one meeting I asked if he was the biggest problem in their school right now, the principal said yes.. I asked why 30 days had gone by and he didn't have any testing done yet. She said because they have other kids to test and they have 60 days for us. I then said, if my son's your biggest problem right now, then why aren't you testing him first. As a result, he was tested every day over the next 2 weeks and I had a report. Don't hesitate to question the school. If you don't push them, they will take their time.. In the meantime, I found an advocate through Parents In Network (PIN), which in our area is Mental Health Association of Southeastern PA. We are near Philadelphia, PA. They are FREE and gave me info on other resources such as after school programs, in home help, and local support groups. Once I told the school I had an advocate and she's attending all meetings with us, they were more responsive to us. Look for an free advocate in your area and if you can't find one, let us know where you live and I'm sure someone on here can find one for you.Good luck,GenFrom: luz velez <luzadrianna1970@...>Subject: ( ) Time frame for ReevaluationAspergers Treatment , autism-awareness-action , autism , "catherine" <catherine.wersinger@...>, mosaic-list , "SPEDlaw Moderator" <reedmartinspedlaw-owner >, njfamilieswautism Date: Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 8:14 AM Just to clarify. Guest guest
Depends on the state. I believe the federal law has a loophole that allows states to set their own timeframe. Also, they differentiate between calendar days, business days, and school days. > > Just to clarify. I had a reeevaluation meeting at the end of Octoberand as of today evaluations are still not complete. Isn't the time frame 60 days for completion? > > Clarification would be appreciated. > > Thanks! >
