Guest guest
I had set up a meeting with my son's third grade teacher because I was getting little feedback from her on the day to day ...Found out that the class had a math test today and my son broke down in tearssaid it was too hard, too long and he couldn't do itShe called the principal (because that's what they do in this school - it's sooo annoying because I really hate this guy) and he came to calm my son down... the guidance counselor came too and luckily (according to the teacher) she was able to take him and give him the test one on one - which he completed with time for a snack in between... He had a reading test yesterday that I didn't know about and despite saying out loud over and over again during the test, that he couldn't do it -- he completed the test. When I told the teacher that it was clear he would need some test taking accommodations she said that she knew that some kids get them but they take the tests in a group, not one on one.Do your kids get one on one test taking accommodations? I think I will need to ask for this since it's clear he's disturbing the whole class and would do the same in a smaller group if he was given a separate room with another group. The teacher said there has been improvement since he started taking meds but he still second guesses almost everything she says ... always saying why? and needing multiple prompts, reminders, directions, etc.Is there anything to be done about this?? He sees a guidance counselor for social skills and once a speech eval is done -- should start speech therapy and maybe they can work on this -- the why thing, I mean.Thank for any input you might you have ... mom to Max, aspergers dx, some anxiety and CAPD - age
