Guest guest
You have your hands full! Start now with a behavior plan that focuses on kind behavior and proper behaviors before these starts to escalate into aggressive behaviors. I can't believe how long my daughter was hitting me as a little kid and I kept hoping she would outgrow it. Most of the behavior change had to be shaped. So much work, isn't it. With a typical kid we may laugh at this and hope they outgrow it. My daughter would pull all the tissues out of boxes and unroll toliet paper, throw wet tissue at the ceiling ...the list goes on ...she had to have her behavior shaped, couldn't just tell her to stop .....I am tired thinking about it. Hang in there, it is just the way they learn (by explicit means). Pam In , " Carey " <lisa.carey@...> wrote: > > There is no where else I could say this. Guest guest
We are working on behavior. I called his floortime therapist and the three of us talked on speaker. He lost his most prized item (Pokemon cards) for a week. We are doing lots of discussion about making good choices now.I was just angry when I posted it. This group must be moderated. I was hoping to chat about this when I was frustrated and mad but it takes many many hours for things to post. It is different than other groups. I guess this group is probably a bit better for information purposes. Guest guest
I feel your pain... I would totally go buy myself a cup of hot cocoa from Starbucks and see if a friend could watch the boys right now. For me that is when I needed a mommy time-out. Then when I was calm and rational, a nice freshly made social story about what to do in the tub and what not to do in the tub, to be read before each and every bathtime until this lesson was completely learned would be in order. It seems like common sense to us but since boys find potty stuff interesting and kids with HFA / AS have a high curiosity rate and sometimes a deviant side - a good lesson to be worked on. I could not tell from your email if it was a malicious event or aninnocent one- formy son it would have been purposeful and most likely his way of paying him back for taking a toy, but having to read the boring social story over and over would not only drive in the apropriate things to do in the bath, it would also let him know that he was not going to get away with the behavior and that doing anything that was not kind would end up in a life lesson. He hates life lessons and school work, so it would also have been a consequence as well as educational. From: Carey <lisa.carey@...> Sent: Sun, February 13, 2011 8:12:31 PMSubject: ( ) Arggg!
