I've used Diflucan for yeast infection and it seemed to do the job very well,

but I do think I need another dosage of it. I only took one and it seemed to

work.

i took Nystatin for 5 years before anything came on the market, than Diflucan

about 200mg once a day for a month at a time. no side effects, in fact i had

my first die-off with nystatin ,of course i did the diet good also. i know

now that you need rotations to trick the yeast. i am still waiting for my

zapper! hopefully it will be here tomorrow.

My gastroenterologist told me that difulcan is a very dangerous drug - can

affect the liver

********************************

Your doctor is very correct. My grandmother was put on diflucan and we were

warned of the same thing. You must be monitored very carefully in that liver

damage does not start.

I went to a new Dr recently who diagnosed me with adrenal supression, low

hormone levels and also put be on nystatin and diflucan. He told me to take

200 mg of alpha lipoic acid with the diflucan to protect the liver. I'm

praying this works.

Is this the same case if your doctor just gave you one pill?

Hi

I have a prescription for 2 capsules of diflucan a day for a month, and 3 capsules of nystatin a day after that for 2 months. I'm also on the strict diet (2 1/2 months to go before I'm scheduled for another test).

As far as I know (which is what the doctor told me) I don't have vaginal candida, only intestinal.

Was your doctor responsive to your candida problem all along? My doctor was not responsive at all.

I have been told to buy Alpha Lipoic acid to help me with my rectal

bleeding, but I have not yet bought it. For how long are you taking difulcan

for? I'm worried about that.

I wish it was that simple for all of us. Unfortunately, American doctors seem to make things much more complicated. And my doctor told me recently that a candida overgrowth in the bowel does not cause candida on my skin. I had mentioned about the recurring fungus on my hands between my fingers.

In response to her ignorance I'm going to change doctors and search out a holistic, homeopathic or naturopathic doctor.

Hi

I went to a nutrition specialist because nothing i did made me lose weight. The less I ate the more I gained, but becuse it hurt so much when I ate I couldn't bring myself to eat more often. Then she did the tests and put me on a diet that lasted 10 days and then she told me to eat normal. I lost 4 kilos on those 10 days, and gained 2 when I started to eat "normal". So now I'm on the 3 month diet...for starters uæææ it's tough.

I would love to give you some great advice - but my best one that I can

think of is to speak to your doctor.

Dear beth,

Perhaps your illness is the die-off reaction of yeast. All I've read

about candida tells me you must get sick (that is, go through this

die-off phase) before you get better. When I get these symptoms of die

off, I drink hot ginger tea and it helps me.

Best wishes,

Marabel

Have you let your doc know the reaction after stopping diflucan? My docs

protocal is to resume diflucan aven if just 1x weekly if symptoms resume

after it is stopped. I took it for about 6 weeks along with nystatin (am

still taking nystatin) but saw no effects after stopping the difulcan.

Upset stomach is a symptom of candida and even more of a symptom of die-off.

This makes sense since nystatin is much stronger than diflucan, if I remember

correctly.

Hope you're feeling better now.

Any tips?

Hope it gets better.......

I remember someone stating that when you missed a dose of your meds that you

could really tell it. How could you tell it? If you missed just on day could

it mess up thing enough that when you had your labs done a week later that

your ast's and alt's would be up? I know that Hunt has missed a day every now

and then and his levels are up. Just wondering if this could be a reason.

Rosemary,

I can't tell you how important it is to take the medication when they tell

you and how much. When you have liver diseases you basically have to decide

to become a science project and learn to live it. Missing one dose is very

harmful. When I received my transplant mine was an emergency so I have no

idea what took place my family had to promise to make sure I took my

medication and become the high maintenance patient. It does affect the blood

because what they give is a recipe to regulate the liver and its functions.

Playing around and taking the I missed my dose attitude can cause you to lose

even receiving a transplant if needed because so many people want and need

livers and die first. That when the docs see this kind of attitude they can

and will refuse the patient care they need to survive. If your sons numbers

continue to fluctuate for very long the docs are going to start asking

questions. The docs can and will tell if your son is playing with medication.

Another important factor that saved my life is how strong the family and

friend support system is that determines if you live or die. Stress to your

son this is no game if he plans on being around then he needs to become aware

of the seriousness of his self care and medication. missing medicine is not

something to take lightly. Think about how many people die because there

isn't a liver for them. So the screening process is harsh.

Rosemary,

Sorry also when a dose of medicine is missed it causes more damage to the

liver. The medication is given to protect the liver and help the liver settle

down and work somewhat. A woman where I work told me recently that statistics

state the people who receives an organ and the organ is accepted and welcomed

by that body will survive and work better and heal than the person who has a

loose attitude. You can tell hearing this distresses me immensely over your

son. I went through sheer hell to even be alive today. I never took care of

myself before all of this happened and I already had health issues. Now I am

paying for it big time. I have so many more health issues yet to deal with.

And lots of pain ahead of me and I am a transplant recipient.

Hi Rosemary,

That was me. By mid afternoon my joint and muscle pain gets so bad that it's real obvious that I've forgotten my meds. I keep my meds in a reminder thingy and keep that at my spot at the table. It's habit now for me to check at every meal.

, my doctor told me I could take as much Atarax as I could tolerate for itching. The drawback is sleepiness, but if you're itching a lot that seems a small price to pay.
