Guest guest
My almost 14-year-old son w/ Aspergers has always slept through the night, probably since he was about 6 weeks old. He sleeps great. Guest guest
Our son has difficutly falling asleep. Talks alot before finally going to sleep. Sometimes wakes up in middle of night and can't go back to sleep for hours. This has eased off, used to happen frequently. He never seemed to have nightmares too much, just a few times. Not sure what the waking up during night is about. Tried talking to him about it. He still has trouble with expressive speech and I have to ask questions to get an understanding of what he's thinking sometimes. Though, most nights he sleeps all the way through. I was just able to get him sleeping in his own bed last month and he's 4.5yrs old. Our 2yr old son (NT) has never had a problem sleeping in his own bed, and often puts himself to bed when he gets tired. ~ P. From: dominique denardo <denardodominique@...>Subject: ( ) sleep issues? Guest guest
A few of my kids (NT and autistic) went through a stage of night terrors and it was always around that age. They outgrew these problems. I guess I was a heavy sleeper as a kid and also was sleepwalking until I was an adult. So it must "run in the family". Night terrors are awful and while the doc's always told us to not wake them up, we did anyway. My now 13 yo had night terrors about age 3 and they wanted to rule out seizures at that time. But it all seemed very much the same as our other kids who had night terrors. None of the kids had night terrors past a 12 to 24 month period of time - seems like it was a stage they passed through. Now, my two with HFA both have sleep issues of not being able to go to sleep and stay asleep. My 13 yo is restless all night long and even a slight change in the room (turning off the tv, for instance) will wake him up. Other times, he finally gets to deep sleep and is "dead to the world" then. But he is not on a regular schedule. We try to keep him night/day as much as possible but it is really hard. We use meds with him but they don't always work. What kinds of problems are you seeing with yours? Roxanna Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.
