Who was it who won the " Fake weight on the driver's license " when we discussed it months ago???? Jim

I was worried that if I came up missing they would put my pic on TV and say I weighed 250 lbs. So, last spring I went down and changed it. Was it Sharon who won? My highest weight was 7-04-01 at 347 and my DL says 220.... It still does lol....I am just enjoying weighing less than my license says, and the shocked look on clerks faces when they ask for an ID that looks like me, and all my other ones are of the SMO me! lol Gotta have some fun... Guest guest
> Who was it who won the " Fake weight on the driver's > license " when we discussed it months ago???? It was either me or (breaker_of_hearts_oo7) who " won " . My license claimed I weighed 240... yet I was up to 424.5. And I know I was at LEAST 380 when I got that license. I still can't believe they put it in with a straight face. (And the time I got stopped for a 'fix-it ticket' and the cop saw my license, he didn't say a word...) I think that after a certain weight people go from speaking of weight in terms of numbers (as in, " He weighed about 220 " ), to thinking in words (as in, " She's so big! " ). I think that after a weight that they're familiar with everything else is kinda abstract, and they have no idea what the difference between say, 250 lbs and 350 lbs and etc. Add in the fact that we all carry our weight differently and can wear different sizes at the same weights, and I'm not surprised at the drivers license lies we get away with. Huggles from a VERY tired runner, rissatoo@... DS - Dr. Keshishian 06/04/02: 424.5 lbs 68.4 bmi 12/09/03: 216.0 lbs 34.9 bmi -208.5 lbs, + a life! Guest guest
I learned out of necessity. Everyone in the band had to take turns driving when we were on the road. I was almost 17 when I got my license ... and I got it the first time tested because I knew my stuff. If it hadn't been for the band, I wouldn't have bothered learning to drive at that age. Guest guest
I got mine at 15 & 1/2. I don't drive. I go everywhere on my rollerblades and the city bus if need be. Many Aspies have depth perception problems. Too many people drive and traffic is boring. I still have my license and all I have to go do is renew it at the State I.D. bureau but, I really don't have much desire to. Driving is being stuck in a seat no matter how I try to look at it. tsbthatsme <kbtoni@...> wrote: I am just interested in knowing how old most of the aspies on here were when they got their driver license? OK, I didn't know that. Thats why I'm asking these questions. the boys just say they 'don't feel good' every time we ask them to drive. We live on a lake in the country so it would be hard for them to rollerblade to school but it would be great if they could. > > > > FAM Secret Society is a community based on respect, friendship, support and acceptance. Guest guest
I'm almost 29, and I've never had a driver's license. I did learn how to drive during my first pregnancy four years ago, but I choose not to pursue the license or to drive because the awareness driving requires feels overwhelming to me. I don't even like to be in a car. It smells stale, it's crowded, traffic is frightening, etc. Sara

I just wanted some possible explanations as to why they might not be wanting to drive. Sometimes getting info out of 17yo boys is like pulling teeth. Or maybe they just don't know how to express the 'why' of not wanting to drive. I find that alot of times one of them will just say I don't feel good and not go into detail like I would. Like I don't feel good because I have a migraine or my allergies are acting up etc...or I'm feeling more depressed today or a little overwhelmed... I appreciate this relationship of aspies teaching non-aspies about aspergers.
Guest guest
I got mine when I was 17. It was mostly so I could take care of my grandparents (clean house, buy groceries, etc.). I am a good driver only because I get paranoid when I see the way other people drive. I usually go at the speed limit or no more than 2 to 5 miles above at most. I also drive with an increased following distance which has saved me a few times from having to make quick unexpected stops. The problem with driving is that there are so many people disobeying laws out there, and thinking only of themselves when they drive. -They signal for a right turn, and then jump two lanes to turn left. -They seem to feel it necessary to swerve out into the next lane over when turning. -The weave in and out of lanes. -The honk their horn incessently for no good reason. -Etc. My favorite times to drive are when I travel long distances, especially after dark. On my most recent trip there was a point where I was driving through a deserted area and all there was was the soft blue light from the dashboard and a panorama of stars. Otherwise I only drive when I have to. Tom Administrator I am just interested in knowing how old most of the aspies on here were when they got their driver license? And can anyone explain exactly why it is so hard for aspies to learn to drive? Or am I just assuming that is hard because my 17 yos have no interest in driving? Guest guest
Possibly this is an AS thing. They may feel that since they have a feeling, everyone else has the exact same feeling under the exact same circumstances, and so there is no need to clarify. Tom Administrator I find that alot of times one of them will just say I don't feel good and not go into detail like I would.
Guest guest
I'm a good driver but I somehow picked up my driving ability from my father, who's a very good driver, just by being in the car with him. I also first started learning to drive when I was 12--my grandmother taught me in parking lots and then in her quiet neighborhood. Learning anything as a child is easier. I have a little problem with depth perception but not enough to hinder me (and I've gotten better), actually it helps me because I stay further from the car in front of me than many others do and we have a lot of fender-benders as a result of people following too closely. They're too cocky and one's abilities cannot completely make up for others' inabilities or the vagaries of traffic. I dislike driving, though--I think it's drudgery, dangerous and mostly too stressful. > > > > I will never drive. > > > > I will be driven.. > > > > To many unpredictable things.. > > > > > > I'm from this planet, the rest of you are not. > > Please go back to Mars or Venus > > http://www.simplecomplexities.org/community/ > > > > --------------------------------- > > > > Use Photomail to share photos without annoying attachments. > > > Thanks to all that responded about your driver license. Guest guest
I don't drive either. For me there is just too much going on to keep track of and my brain will lock in on certain things, which is a bad thing when one is driving. The coordination of all the different movements is also hard for me. Normally it would not be, but when combined with the intense watching and so on, it is a tremendous problem. Guest guest
I learned to drive at the age of seventeen. My first five vehicles were motorcycles, since then two seater sports cars.I have been driving for over fifty years, and have a spotless record.I live in the middle of a seven mile long, windy, one lane, mountain road.My car has over a quarter of a million miles on it with absolutely no engine repair work. My truck has a couple of hundred thousand miles on it, again with no engine repair.I have driven well over a couple of thousand miles in the past ten days, at an average speed of just over seventy miles an hour.  Rainbow
