My 2.5 year old has recently started waking up at 1:45am each night screaming.

I have left him alone and he screams for around 30-45 minutes before returning

to bed (we have an extra tall gate at his door so he cannot come out of his

room). Last night, tho-he woke up at 4am, and screamed until it was time for

him to come out of his room @ 6am. This could be due to the fact that since we

had our ABA clinic last night, he wasnt able to go to sleep until almost 9am.

Any advice for me???

Oh my goodness. You poor thing.

First off.......I'm a gal who did a Family Bed.....so the idea of my kids not sleeping or letting them cry is...well....not good. he he.

I'd personally say to let him sleep with you and see how that night goes.

Some kids have night terrors. I remember our oldest used to have them once in a while. It was horrible.....so I'm sorry you're going through this. Ick.

But.......(own opinion).....they're just scared and don't have the skills to calm down and go back to sleep.

Whenever it happened, we just talked them down, rubbed their back or whatever.....and fell back asleep. One good thing for having them right there, if only for when they're going through a rough patch, you all stay warm and in bed. Snuggly and calm....ya know?

Good luck to you.

I don't know if anyone has answered this (hope I am not butting in) but this

sounds like Night Terrors. My daughter did this on an off till she was 9. She

never remembered a thing the next day. When she would start screaming, all I

could do was hold her till she fell back to sleep. Let me know if I can help.
