Guest guest
Yes, Tyler used to chew. He especially liked to chew on wood. He chewed on the bottom molding of windows that were low enough to reach, a hutch I had in our dining room, and wood puzzle pieces or thick cardboard board books. I never understood it. I would tell him over and over and over to stop. Now I understand somewhat that it is a compulsion, sensory, stimming type issue. I see those rubber chewers now that I have learned about the spectrum and wish I had known about them when he was younger. He also went thru a period where he would 'chew' on his fingers. But he only did that for a few months and it stopped. The only thing he still chews on is the straw to his thermos we use for water. ~ P. My son gags on fat just like me, and also potato. At first my hubby thought he was being ridiculous, but I said I understood (this was before I even knew what it was called). My son will occasionally eat a little potato if it has just the right amount of salt on it. He rejects things too sweet, slightly too brown, any fat, all veges, only eats one texture at a time, and to top it off, he has food sensitivities to some foods he does like (causing "meltdowns", vomiting and much more)Miranda> >> > I've known we've had Asperger's for past 2 years, but only recently got official diagnosis. But family hasn't been close for years - I think she doesn't want to believe it because doesn't like me and my son is a lot like me (but more severe). Is frustrating, but am trying to just get on with our lives.> > > > Miranda> >>
Guest guest
I have a picture somewhere of a chair we used to have. My ds had literally eaten most of the chair. He would lay in it and chew parts of it until there were no more parts left. lol. Roxanna Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.
