Guest guest
Hi there, I have a 4yo daughter with AS symptoms and I have a 15 mo old who just had a developmental evaluation done Wed for some delays that she is having. I never noticed any delays with my 4yo, but life was hectic back then, so I could have missed it. My 15mo old was rated at 7mo age for speech, 11mo age for motor skills and cognitive skills and then 4mo age for social/emotional skills. I haven't picked my jaw up off the floor yet. I really was not expecting the social/emotional part of the eval. I'm not sure what to make of it yet. I have not really had a reaction yet other than just confused. All I can really do is speculate at this point, I guess. I mean, do they have any type of actual testing for PDD's at that age? Our eval was done by an early intervention team from our local child developmental services agency that our pediatrician referrred us to. She will be getting speech, play therapy and if she doesn't walk by next month physical therapy. I'm kind of dumb founded, but am curious about others' early experiences. > > I posted a while ago worried about my 12 month old. He did have an early intervention developmental eval today. She does think he is speech delayed and possibly showing signs of autism. He should be recieving a hearing test and a speech eval within the next few weeks. She thinks he would benefit from floortime based speech therapy for the next six months. At 18 months he should be re-evaluated to see if he has any more signs of autism or sensory problems. Thanx for the support. At least we are on it early with him, my eldest got help so late. >
Guest guest
Hello, what a trying time you are going through. My son did not walk until 2. He did not talk till 2.5. He did not crawl until 18months. You are doing all the right things. Getting the support and assessment you need. Kel. Sent from my iPhone
Guest guest
Hang in there. I was told they can further evaluate for autism at 18 months if there is a significant speech delay. My ds has always seemed ummm " odd " so I am not shocked as far as he is concerned. Looking back I saw a lot of signs in my eldest, but his speech was advanced and I thought lining up toys, asymmetrical crawling, and memorizing commercials just meant he was " gifted " . We were worries about sound sensitivities but the pediatrician ignored our concerns. He is gifted, but he also has Asperger's syndrome. I haven't gotten the age level results from my 13 month old yet, so I can't say where he is, I may be shocked as well. Mine isn't walking yet either, but at 13 months they aren't concerned about that yet Good to know we aren't alone though, right? > > > > I posted a while ago worried about my 12 month old.
