Guest guest
There are a couple of try eastbayautism and peninsulaparents (not sure of the full address.) Parents Helping Parents are in San . You should contact your regional center as well. Take a look at Quest camp, for next summer. Sorry, I don't have any info for anyone closer to you, but those groups may have connections in your area. Good luck on the journey. Guest guest
Hi D ~ I just had to reply to you as we live just north of you in Rohnert Park. I would have emailed you personally, but couldn't find an email address that was complete on the post. How old is your son? Our son was originally diagnosed PDD-NOS also several years ago. He's got a lot of anxiety too ~ like his mom (me). He's now 17 and was eventually, I think at age 15 or 16, diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. I'd love to chat with you more on the subject and maybe we can even meet up sometime. I really haven't met anyone close to Rohnert Park to just chat with that has children with similar issues. There is a home school meet up group, but not necessarily kids with issues. I'd love to find or form a group for our kids. Our son is 17, but is absolutely wonderful with younger kids. In fact when I worked at a preschool in Santa , he would be my summer camp helper with the kids because he's so good with the younger ones. He'd make a great camp counselor I think. If you'd like to contact me personally, my email is holling1992@.... Look forward to hopefully chatting soon. Guest guest
There is an awesome facility in Redwood City called FACES…Dr. …lots of sensory and a true believer in early intervention. Did not actually use them because they were out of our area but talked at length and was very impressed with everything about the facility and staff. My grandson is also PDD-NOS, diagnosed at three and is now doing well in mainstream kindergarten. We found with DGS that the majority of his problems were sensory and found an amazing OT in our are, (Sacramento), who specialized in SPD Read a book called the sensory sensitive child and you will see your son’s picture on several pages I’m sure…We did not make much headway until we read this book and it was a very helpful eye opener Good luck, Teri From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of KylieM Sent: Saturday, August 28, 2010 9:41 AM To: Subject: ( ) Re: son just diagnosed, Petaluma There are a couple of try eastbayautism and peninsulaparents (not sure of the full address.) Guest guest
Depending on your son's age he should be eligible for services through Early Start or through your son's school. Contact North Bay Regional Center for an evaluation. Another wonderful organization in Santa is Anova. They offer everything from speech, OT, behavioral, social skills, etc. Please feel free to email me directly with questions. Best of luck to you, Colleen Sent from my iPhone
