Guest guest
I didn't like it as much because it only focused on one specific area of need (relationships/social) when there were other areas that needed help as well. They had some nice socializing games and such but also, some of the ideas I saw were pretty weird. For instance, one kid talked incessantly. The therapist's idea was for the parents to wear headphones and smile and nod while he talked. I guess it was supposed to get him to stop talking non-stop. But I did not see as it helped to replace the behavior or teach ways he could talk but learn when enough it enough, etc. It's just my own opinion. We used ABA with my now 12 yo and it encompasses everything. It was easy to individualize it as well. And it improved his functioning in huge measurable amounts. I'm interested in seeking therapy for my 4 yo Aspie who is struggling with some behavioral issues. There are several therapists in my area who offer RDI. I'm curious to hear from those who have tried it with their HFA/AS child, good or bad. If you didn't like it, what type of therapy did you find to be helpful, particularly for anger, tantrums, social skills, etc.? Feel free to email me privately.
