i have heard many stories from a teacher that it is routine that kids hit and

even bite the teacher and others in an autism classroom. the only way to really

get at that is more paras. the child who does the hitting needs a 1:1 helper

and sometimes that does not even get at it. i have a helper that now teaches in

a year round middle school autism room- she gets bit and hit on a regular basis.

Subject: Teacher had concussion in dealing with behaviors in class

Hello everybody,

Has anyone encountered a situation where the class teacher in Autism

class suffers from a concussion while she was dealing with a behavior

issue from a child, in the class. If so, could you please share how

the school system should be handling this so that it doesn't occur

again and how would they assure parents that their children are in

safe environment?

Thanks
