Guest guest
If I were you, I'd continue to keep an eye on things and to push for an assessment. I've heard teachers tell me that everything was great, when it really wasn't. My son always scores well on the standardized tests, too, but still has a lot of problems in the classroom and on the playground. This is the start of the year and so her classwork is probably a review of things she already knows. In a month or so, when the homework gets a little harder, it may be a different story. And a couple of years from now, when she's asked to write about her opinions or explain why things happen, that's when the differences between her and her peers will really become obvious. Guest guest
I read this and thought I had written it myself. lol. I am the same school says he doesn't need an IEP as he is keeping up with everything in class, and they say he has a bunch of friends in the playground, what I seen was a bunch of other kids chasing him and shouting at him. Why when they know things are difficult are schools so hard to get on side? From: tamaoki_s <tamaoki_s@...>Subject: ( ) Re: Good news or bad news? Hard to tell.... Guest guest
I know I'm gonna sound negative for this,,,,but it's because the schools have too much to do, have SOME people that don't really care the way they should, have staff that are burned out, don't have enough staff to really do what they're supposed to do - like watch and mentor and BE with our kids on the playground, don't have enough staff (or won't put them out on the playground) to make sure the darned bullies don't BULLY...... Ugh...... From what I've seen in the past, there are really good people and really bad ones. Sadly, bad ones won't go and get a new job.
