Guest guest
My daughter has sensory integration dysfunction and some coordination problems. I had her evaluated at Easter Seals and then gave the evaluation to the guidance counselor and Rayleigh's teacher. The guidance counselor gave it to a special ed " facilitator " . The sped facilitator called me and said she'd be getting together paperwork for a 504. It's more than I expected! I'm so glad I did this, my poor daughter has as much in terms of sensory issues as her brother, maybe MORE! Her social skills are good but her sensory issues, anxiety and OCD are through the roof. So they're going to work with her to see if they can help her learn to help herself. I'm not sure what that will look like yet, but I have to say I'm quite happy about it. Next year Rayleigh will be going to " intermediate school " which is 5th and 6th grade. It's a lot more kids and a lot more pressure. She'll need breaks and sensory activities more than ever. I don't believe she needs an IEP, just a little help to get her calm enough to cope. Right now it's horrible to even get her to do homework because she comes home so overloaded. I love this school district. Miriam
