Guest guest
I AM JUST DREAMING OF THE DAY AFTER SURGERY WHEN I CAN WALK DOWN THE HALLWAY WITH THIS HUMOUNGOUS GRIN PLASTERED ALL OVER MY FACE BECAUSE MY KNEE WON'T HURT! HEALING PAIN IS TOLERABLE. THIS TEARING APART PAIN IS NOT. MARGE YOUR WORD IS A LAMP UNTO MY FEET AND A LIGHT UNTO MY PATH. I suspect that everyone has a different experience with regard to walking after surgery, but I - and most people I have met - was up and walking (albeit with great difficulty) the day after surgery. The point was to get the leg moving as soon as possible. I suggest that you check with your surgeon on this topic, before you believe the likes of someone like me. A. I. Guest guest
Hi ' I'm sorry to hear all the operations you been through Just take one day at a time and keep doing your exercises and it hurts but its better to stay at the exercises . regards juneflower60catste888 <catste888@...> wrote: Hi group!I had a hip replacement ® done in 1993, a knee replacement (L) done in 2002, and a broken hip/shattered thigh bone (L) repaired in 2003. The surgeries went wonderfully well, and I recuperated without incident. The doctor had to shorten my left leg to repair the break. I wear a corrective shoe to compensate for the difference in length (about 1 inch). Now I walk terribly. I have a tendency to plod along like enstein! I do daily strengthening exercises, but I see no improvement in my walking. I depend on a walker or quad cane to help me. Can anyone offer any suggestions? My doctor tells me to continue doing the exercises. I am terribly frustrated!!!!!!!!
Guest guest
Does anyone know if health/diet is related when a child consistently walks on her toes. My daughter walked flat footed until she was 4 and then she began to walk on her toes and complains that it hurts to walk flat footed. I do remember her as a 2-3 year old, walking with hard strides when rushed as if she couldn't coordinate or process walking fast. She has strong calf muscles and ankles and defined muscle tone on the tops of her feet as a result. Kandee
Guest guest
I walked on my toes as a child, and my feet easily sting. I think it's falling arches, or plantae fasitis (not spelled right). It's hard to imagine such a young child with this problem, but I've already been amazed at how many teens have this problem. Makes you wonder if its another symptom of our national health crisis. Anyway, you might try some arch supports. I would go to an arch support store for help. Becasue of my childhood toe walking (and inability to squat, my ankle won't bend enough) I was going to investigate what Dr. N wrote about GAPS kids have a shorter muscle in their leg somewhere. I was going to write down the muscle and ask my chiropracter if mine seemed shorter than normal. [ ] walking Does anyone know if health/diet is related when a child consistently walks on her toes. Guest guest
The Book suggested walking practice. My gait was good; I wasn't using a cane; I was quite active. So I didn't follow that suggestion. On vacation the past few weeks I didn't have access to a gym or bike. So I did my stretches and leg lifts and water walking and added long walks on the beach and boardwalk. I was amazed in a few days at how much my stamina and speed improved. At the beginning of the week I wouldn't even consider a fairly long walk on uneven sand and boardwalk that we usually take while visiting Fire Island. The night before we left I suggested doing the walk. We did. And we were moving quickly. So I'm a convert now and will keep up the walking. No more slowed pace or hesitant step. Now I gotta get those stairs! Guest guest
Sorry I forgot to say. It was a TKR (right) and I had it 4 1/2 months ago. My left knee will be replaced on Sept 1, and I had a cortisone shot for it in May. Guest guest
Dot, are you having pain when you walk or maybe a balance issue? I know when I first started walking, I had a little problem with balance. With time it corrects itself out as my knee became stronger. I also have to deal with a strong TKR on my left leg after surgery and now the other knee needs to have a TKR. I am working with these issues but this might not be your case. Best wishes on your recovery. You're only 9 weeks out and healing is an individual process. a > > Hi all, > I am 9 weeks pre op with TKR.I can walk pretty good now but I can only walk slow.Anyone know why? > Dot > > A curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile. Guest guest
I drove the day after I came home. I drove myself to the store and bought a few groceries. Just not heavy lifting of anything--I think they said 6 weeks before I lifted anything heavy. Also they said no vacuuming --and Bob did that for me--love watching a man run the vacuum--doesn't that sound great sitting there watching them vacuum?
