Guest guest
I am the mother of a recently dx child with AS. She is 12 and going into 7th grade. She spent the entire summer being tested and retested and we were just handed this dx Friday. Her doc suggested several sites and said that a support group could possible help me. So here I am.....lost and confused. I work for the school system in our area and she has an established IEP as she has a specific learning disability in math. Her other dx's are ADHD and tourettes. She is not violent and has no temper....her issues are her inability to be social in any enviornment. She chooses to play with much younger kids and has one subject that she talks about. She functions at home very well.....cooks, cleans, helps out anywhere we need her. She just needs several reminders. The only rx she takes is Focalin 15mg (adhd) and Lexapro 10mg (anxiety). She is an average student but I would like more help in the homework area and getting her to turn it in. She has the same teachers that she had last year and if she is promoted she will have them again for 8th grade. So they are very familar with her learning style and issues. Any and all information given would be greatly appreciated.
