Son putting his hands down his pants

My son is 5 and last few weeks we've noticed him putting his hands on or in his

pants more and more. Obviously this isn't going to help him with his social

skills too much, so I wanted to find out if anyone else has dealt with this

issue.

Sometimes he puts his hand down the front of his pants. He tells me that his

thingy is sticking to his balls (sorry for the graphic description) and he needs

to unstick it. He says this mainly happens in the afternoon. I'm guessing he

gets sweaty. I've ordered some boxer shorts at my husband's suggestion to see if

they will be cooler and so help with the problem.

Other times he puts his hands more generally down his pants, and tells me he's

scratching. He does have mild eczema on the tops of his legs which is aggravated

in the winter.

And then sometimes he puts his hand on his crotch on the outside of his pants.

Not sure what the reason for that is.

He's been potty trained for over 2 years, so we're well past the " oh look, no

diaper " phase.

Anyway, if you're not completely grossed out at this point and have some

thoughts, let me know. I'm thinking maybe I should get him tested for sensory

stuff - maybe he's super-aware of being sweaty, much more than a normal boy.
