Guest guest
Hi Shelli My Name is and I am 32, I was diagnosed with Achalasia when I was 22. As far as what causes Achalasia, I have no idea, although I do have a cousin the same a age as me who was diagnosed with lupus the same time I was diagnosed with Achalasia. You say you are afraid of having surgury, have you tried any of the other treatments, like dilation? I had a myotomy in October of 2000, it was done laproscopically, I was also a little nervous, but really the most discomfort had was some shoulder pain (caused by air build up after the surgery that seems to like to sit in the shoulder area) and of course a little stomach pain, but it was really not bad at all, and as far as scarring goes, just 5 little scars on my stomach one which I like to refer to as my 2nd belly button, I was back in a bikini in no time! I would just discuss your options with your doctor and find one that works for you. At 22 I weighed in at 165 lbs, and when I had my myotomy I weighed 105 lbs. I quickly put on a few pounds in the weeks following the surgery, and a year and a half later I am at a healthy 125 lbs and feel much more energetic etc. As far as the gas build up, that I have not experienced. Since my myotomy, things have been realitively good, although I am beginning again to have problems with some foods and I have had to vomit after a few meals now and then again. But it is sure better than when I was vomiting up EVERYTHING! There was a time I couldn't even get liquids down. So as far as the surgery goes, I am all for it. Just make sure you discuss all your options with your Dr., Some of the other treatmeants work well for some people, I just wasn't one of them. Good Luck to you! ~ P.S. When are you getting married? Guest guest
Hi , I have had my throat dilated once and I went in for the botox and they could not sedate me enough to keep me still I kept grabbing the thing out of my mouth. I was at the legal limit of medication too. It was just horrible. The dilitation worked about 2 months I want to say. I seem to do okay with the Nifedipine. I only have trouble eating salads and drinking liquids. I can typical get my food down with water. I have another concern since I am young and want to have children I wonder if I can healthy have them. If they can get all the nutrition that they need. As for a wedding date one has not been set. I guess when I finish college whenever that might be. Achalasia has slowed me down so much. Shelli > > Hi Shelli > > My Name is and I am 32, I was diagnosed with Achalasia when I was 22. Guest guest
Good Morning!!!! Congratulations on the baby! I hope you're not too sleep deprived! Be sure to look into adding to the BFL program if you start it before you stop breastfeeding...you'll probably want to add calories or supplements (I'm rather new at this, so I can't exactly say what you'd want to add...) I am on my first challenge on day 19 and I've stuck to it very faithfully without missing a workout, though I have missed a 6th meal here and there. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me! I assume that since you were training for amateur body building that you were quite successful! I am no where near to that point, but I think long term I would like to train like a body builder with my eating and workouts. I hope you are just as successful with this challenge as you were with your first!!! Good luck and don't forget to ask questions, a lot of people on this message board are very, very knowledgeable and all are very helpful and kind! Take advantage of all these resources! Take care, Ruth > ok, it has been a really long time. Almost two years in fact. I > had a baby and am almost done nursing so I figure it is time to get > back on the wagon.
