Guest guest
Patti, I found this link that gives more information about each of the omega's and basically says a balance of all 3 of them is best. Our son started taking the Omega 3-6-9 Nordic Naturals about 3 or 4 months ago when another member posted about them. I have noticed a difference in his focus and emotional stability. He has not had a problem burping them, but I give them to him during dinner so he eats them in the middle of his meal. http://www.womentowomen.com/healthynutrition/differencebetweenomega369.aspx Hope this helps a little, I found it interesting to read. ~ P. Guest guest
Hi :Thanks so much for the article. Best explanation of the omegas that I've read! Over the weekend I started back to the Omega 3-6-9 Nordic Naturals since I know they work. I've never noticed any burping issues with them either - he takes them at dinner too, so maybe that's the key. I just feel like the 3-6-9 formula helped his emotional stability much more than the 3, so I'm hoping we'll see some improvement pretty soon. Thanks again for the article, it's definitely a keeper!PattiFrom: Pruden <missypruden@...> Sent: Sat, October 16, 2010 12:17:31 PMSubject: Re: PATTI ( ) Omega 3 vs Omega 3-6-9 Supplements Patti, I found this link that gives more information about each of the omega's and basically says a balance of all 3 of them is best. Guest guest
I concur it was a great artical. But after reading it I'm not sure you shouldn't just go with Omega 3. The article mentions that Omega 6 if not balanced can cause inflammation issues. The vitamin d council and many austim theories point to inflammation as being a key factor. We just stared OMEGA 3 in the mornings with melatonin before bedtime and we've had a pretty good leap forward the last 7 days or so. Don't know if it will last but I hope so. Its been three really great days in a row which is rare to have three days. They seem to have taken the edge off his anxiety. Guest guest
Hi :Sorry, hadn't had a chance to reply! My son takes Vyvanse and Luvox, has been on several others in the past. We have never seen any negative interactions between the meds and the omegas. Guest guest
This is a great question. You should always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before adding OTC stuff to the mix with rx meds. Just because it is OTC does not mean it is "safe" and certainly you want to check interactions with any meds so you don't cause more problems. Guest guest
, fish oil will thin blood, so if a medication is a blood thinner (for those on that type meds for medical reasons), it's a supplement you wouldn't want to take, or complement with others that thin blood. Generally, though, it's a healthy supplement to take. Here's a list I found: Moderate Interaction Be cautious with this combinationBirth control pills (Contraceptive drugs) interacts with FISH OIL Fish oils seem to help reduce some fat levels in the blood. These fats are called triglycerides. Birth control pills might decrease the effectiveness of fish oils by reducing these fat levels in the blood. Some birth control pills include ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel (Triphasil), ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone (Ortho-Novum 1/35, Ortho-Novum 7/7/7), and others. Medications for high blood pressure (Antihypertensive drugs) interacts with FISH OIL Fish oils seem to decrease blood pressure. Taking fish oils along with medications for high blood pressure might cause your blood pressure to go too low. Some medications for high blood pressure include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others. Orlistat (Xenical, Alli) interacts with FISH OIL Orlistat (Xenical, Alli) is used for weight loss. It prevents dietary fats from being absorbed from the gut. There is some concern that orlistat (Xenical, Alli) might also decrease absorption of fish oil when they are taken together. To avoid this potential interaction take orlistat (Xenical, Alli) and fish oil at least 2 hours apart. Minor Interaction Be watchful with this combinationMedications that slow blood clotting (Anticoagulant / Antiplatelet drugs) interacts with FISH OIL Fish oils might slow blood clotting. Taking fish oils along with medications that also slow clotting might increase the chances of bruising and bleeding. Some medications that slow blood clotting include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), and others. And here's a link re flaxseed oil, which some use: http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/flaxseed-oil-000959.htm > > Does the omega 369 interact with any of the meds the kids take or is it safe to take. > > scott > Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry > >
