I never saw this behavior in my aspie ds Barbara, some nail biting but seldom and never excessive.

I am trying to figure out which of Liz's "quirks" might me signs of AS. Do any of your kids chew on their toes? Liz has done this since she was a baby.

Yes, my 10 yo gson chews on his toenails, and actually I did as a child too. The more I learn about AS, the more I think I have some of the traits. And my brother was diagnosed as AS last year at the age of 55!!

Chewing on your toenails is not a sign of autism or AS. It's just a weird quirk some people have.

Thanks Michele. I thought the toe biting thing had to mean something. From: mtownsend29@...Date: Sun, 14 Mar 2010 23:52:17 +0000Subject: Re: ( ) Toe chewing?

My daughter who does not have AS but has anxiety and OCD and trichotillomania

also chews her toes. We just started zoloft and are hoping the hair pulling

with get under control. It hasn't been too bad since last year when she had a

mean and loud/angry yelling teacher. She developed a bald patch then. She

doesn't appear to have a bald patch now but I still find balls of hair she's

rolled up. She likes the feeling of the hair when she rolls it between her

fingers or thumbs. Maybe the zoloft will help with the finger and toe chewing

as well!
