Guest guest
I would locate your nearest local Children's hospital, then look into the neurodevelopmental doc area. My ds sees a dev. pediatrician in the neurodevelopment clinic of the hospital and knows autism very well. I once asked a question about an autism issue to the regular pediatrician and I learned my lesson. I never did it again. lol. Roxanna “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.†- Luther King, Jr. ( ) Good ASD doctor in Minneapolis area? I am in search of a medical doctor who is actually educated in treated ASD kids. I continue to run into the same roadblocks where I feel as though I know more than they do about Autism. We saw a DAN doctor last year but of course that isn't covered by insurance so couldn't afford to continue to see him. I didn't feel that what he was offering us was anything more than what I could find on the internet anyway. I want to have a doctor look at my son entirely, not just to see if he is a good height and weight for his age. Any leads would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Guest guest
Doesn't the Mayo clinic have pediatric neurologist. You definately want to see Mayo Clinic pediatric psychiatry for any medication management. They are the best. Pam > > I am in search of a medical doctor who is actually educated in treated ASD kids. Guest guest
I so agree with this, go to the best you can in your area, even if you have to drive far. We struggled for years with local doctors and then one day made an appointment at the Stanford Aspergers Clinic. It has made a world of difference in our lifes and my sons. He sees a pediatric neurologists, psychiatrist and pediatrician. Guest guest
Join the Club!! that is often the case, but you can find them if you look hard and get good referrals. It took me a while to find my dream team but I now feel like we have a great pediatrician, psychiatrist, neurologist, and biomedical team, plus in home tehreapists and OTs. I woudl start with your local autism support groups and organizations and speka with a few of there members about who has worked for them and not. Of course we all differ on our opinions so you will want to speak with likeminded parents to find the doctors that will be the best fit for your family. I know I love our psychiatrist but some of the people I know doing biomedical have told me horrow stories about when they first started with him 10 years ago. Often their are developmental branches of your local children's hospital that can give you good referrals as well. In home therapists and their companies often have great insight since next to parents they spend the most time with the kids as well and can often reccommend doctors that have worked out well for other families they have worked with. Good luck. From: jrjevning <jrjevning@...> Sent: Thu, March 3, 2011 2:10:15 PMSubject: ( ) Good ASD doctor in Minneapolis area?
