Is he on any medications? Many medications that treat anxiety or depression will

cause an increased appetite. This could be the issue. Not sure since I don't

know if he's on medications. If he is, you might want to check with your son's

dr and have his meds changed.

He also might be going through a growth spurt. My oldest son, who is not

Aspergers, had a phase where it seemed he ate every hour. He stayed real thin

though so I didn't worry, except for my grocery bill! :)

– My question is the same as ne’s regarding medications.  Your situation sounds very similar to what we have experienced with my 20 yo son.  He used to be obsessed with food – my husband (his step-dad) frequently told him he needed to find another hobby.  We would hardly finish one meal before he was asking what was for the next meal or asking for a snack, a soda, etc.  He was also extremely overweight plus had metabolic syndrome (precursor to diabetes) and high cholesterol and triglycerides requiring medications.  In May, doctor switched him from Abilify to Intuniv.  Wow, what a huge difference this has made.  He no longer obsesses over food or craves sweets and his appetite has decreased dramatically.  He has lost over 50 pounds (from 258 to 204) and looks fantastic though he could still stand to lose a little more weight.  CIndy From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of susanne hansenSent: Wednesday, December 15, 2010 9:48 AM Subject: Re: ( ) complusive eating Is he on any medications? My son is 20 and he weighs 304, I have told his doctor that I felt the prozac was causing his weight gain, but he wouldn't listen to me. He is obsessed with food too. I am so glad I saw your post because now I will ask the doctor about this medication and see if my son can change to it. Are there any bad side effects? plj> From: <denise092769@...>> Subject: ( ) complusive eating> > Date: Tuesday, December 14, 2010, 10:41 PM> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > hi my dj is 14 he has as and ocd anxiety problems> and paranoria and diabetic issues on sat we took jd> shopping to teach value of a dollar. we went to supermarket> and a price club we bought peanut butter i know he had it> for lunch on sun today tuesday it was two pack the jar is> real big 2lbs in each jar tonight i

,

If he's not on any meds then I would get him to a doctor to make sure his

diabeties is being address properly and to see if there could be any other

medical reason for the compulsive eating. If it's nothing medical, then it could

be psycological and you might want to have him assessed for that. Other than

that I don't know. I could just very well be a normal growth spurt. Good luck!
