Guest guest
Hello everyone, My son, , 14 ½ year old is having his first session of a full developmental assessment on Wednesday. Due to the fact that no one from the school suggested that he may have AS, we have been sleeping on an old DX of ADHD and NVLD given to us when he was in grade 2. Last spring, while he was in grade 8, the school ordered a new psychological assessment and in the report, for the first time, they have suggested that may have AS. Long story short, a year later, we are about to start a full-developmental assessment. I was told that Wednesday will be the first session and the entire assessment can take 3 to 5 sessions, depending on the findings. I have to admit that I am a little bit nervous about what is it that we’ll have to go through. What is expected from me, as a parent, during this assessment? Obviously, I want to assist them in any way I can. At the end of the day, I want to know what is my son suffering from so that I can better understand what is he going through and how I can help him better. If any of you cares to share similar experiences, I would appreciate it greatly. Also, if you have suggestions of questions that I should be asking, feel free to send them to me. Thanks everyone on this group. Your help and support was priceless. Ever since I joined it, a couple of weeks ago, I feel like I am part of a big family where I do not feel alone in what I have to deal with at home, day in, day out. All the best, Eddie
