is in a wonderful school. The guidance counselor has a graduate degree in autism spectrum disorders and is known in the district as THE expert on Asperger Syndrome. This morning started off having a rough time in speech. He got upset playing a game. Nobody is quite sure why, not even . Anyway, he went to see the guidance counselor and she worked with him and let him call me and we talked. wanted to come home and I said, "I'll pick you up a little bit early, how about 2:45 (about 20 minutes earlier than he usually leaves)." He said, "Okay." I didn't hear anything else until much later when the guidance secretary called to tell me the guidance counselor couldn't call me back because she was teaching all day long, teaching kids about Asperger Syndrome and was helping her. :) So

when I picked up the guidance counselor was in the office and came out to have a little chat. She said had a fantastic day after that rough start and he did a GREAT job of helping her. For every aspect of AS that she was describing added his own words and gave real life examples of how AS people might react. How I WISH I could have seen this! I think he had a lot of fun. The guidance counselor said, "Yeah, we were real rock stars up there. We make a great team." LOL. Hey, this could lead to something could turn into a job later in life if he wants to do that. Even if he doesn't, the fact that he can do this kind of thing is so nice. He'll be in school with these same kids for the next six years but they'll all know him, know why he's a little different and I think it's a good thing. So far educating kids has been an extremely positive thing for us. The fact

that got to be the resident kid expert on AS was just cool. He also chose which video to show to the kids. I just love this guidance counselor. She totally rocks.
