It was September when I took my 5 year old to the specialist for his testing and

diagnosis and our insurance has yet to pay the claim. Is this going to be an

issue? And now I have to take Matty to someone the state has chosen for another

appointment to help with determining whether he can get disability. I can't

help but feel like since this is someone that the state picks that this is a

waste of time. I had no trouble getting disability for my older son but he has

a number of other issues as well as AS. Anyone else have issues with this?

Hi Jenn,

There was a 60 minutes televised segment on this topic of Insurance Co. not honoring legitimate Insurance claims. The conclusion was that Insurance Co. admitted they automatically deny THREE times before they process a claim. They said it was standard procedure for them to routinely deny claims to ANY facility or person who submits them. Apparently it's a game of stamina, so just keep sending it in for review. Good Luck!

Actually they haven't denied the claim, as of yet, they just haven't paid it. I'm just wondering if it going to lead to a denial or how long they will drag it out. I am really anxious about this second opinion doctor we are seeing tomorrow. Hope he doesn't piss me off, lol. I hate it when you have to convince other people about things that are happening. comes across so ordinary that 90% of people would probably never guess he had AS.

I've had a similar experience with Ins. non-payment, but it was for dental work. I had to insist to the billing clerk that I did in fact have insurance through that carrier and that she needed to contact them direcetly to be sure she was sending the claim to the right office. After six months, several readmitted claims (and many conversations with the billing clerk doubting I was even covered) the claim was finally paid by the Ins. Co... Whew! So hang in there! I hope things go well with the second-opinion doc.!! Kate
