Guest guest
First and foremost, I commend your willingness to help your child and to protect her from the bullying that goes on in schools. My 15 yr old ds has AS. He was homeschooled until 6th grade. He was not diagnosed with AS until 8th grade, however we knew he has difficulties and didn't think like other kids. (I was getting burned out homeschooling him.) DS is in 9th gr now and has been bullied in public school. We are dealing with the school district to ensure this doesn't happen anymore. (Dh says he has to stay in public school, so that is where ds goes for now, much to my dismay.) Many AS kids can thrive socially in the homschool environment. IT jsut means that as parents we have to make more of an attempt to get them into social situations and help them navigate the socially appropriate behaviours. Good luck to you as your school your dd. Trisha
