Guest guest
We had a family bed until my daughter got so big that her very restless sleep was painful! Now she has her " little bed " on the floor next to our bed. It's a crib mattress made up that we put down for her at night. She goes to bed on her own in her room and in the middle of the night she just comes in and gets into her bed without waking us up! The NOT WAKING US UP part is awesome. As long as we get our bedroom in the evening who cares if she comes in during the night anyway... Jen 5yo Lymie/Aspie
Guest guest
Jen, We did the "Family Bed", too. All 4 were in with us. At one time, we had a King bed on the flloor. Over time. they all got out on their own. I think we've made them get out too......the older they got, anyway. Now,,,,from time to time, we'll have one of them ask if they can come in for the night, and I gotta say that I love it. Not being squished.....but the togetherness and the talks.....I LOVE it. I remember fighting everyone who knew that we did the "Fam Bed" and trying to defend our actions. Even being embarrassed that we seemed so odd or like pushovers for ALLOWING it. Then, when our oldest was 4 and we still only had 2 younger, someone said, "Hey....how many teens do you hear of wanting to sleep with mom and dad"? SOOOOO true!!! Anywho,......just wanted to chime in. We have loved it.......but for us, it was a choice we loved. We hated the idea of crying...he he. (I know everyone does). And, as I look back, as I said, it was a time of talking and sharing and just soooo wonderufl. Kids could be fighting alll day....we could be on them for this or that. Then, you get all snuggly and it was awesome. Hugs. Guest guest
My son slept with us too! And, then my husband moved into the spare room...LOL. My husband is a very very light sleeper and I go to be way to late for him. My son was afraid for the longest time to sleep by himself....but finally around age 11 or 12...he did it and has never been back. They eventually move out. Now I have the queen bed all to myself. My husband goes to bed early as he is up at 4 a.m. But when my son goes to bed...he opens his dad's door and keeps his bathroom light on. Then I hear...Good night Dad...I love you. Husband replies...Good night, love you too. And, my son will do this several times until finally my husband says...Okay enough go to sleep. I guess we are a Walton's family...Good night boy Goodnite grandpa...Goodnight. Guest guest
He he. I love it, Jan!!!! Yeah, my hubby took over the couch for the longest time......he he. We even bought a huge one to fit him. It sounds odd and maybe even "bad" to people that never did it or don't "co-sleep", but for those who do it,,,,,,,,,it's a choice. My hubby didn't mind it ( I don't think it would be possible if the everyone wasn't "on board"),,,,,,he just moved to the couch if it got too crazy so that he could get sleep. he he. So....."Goodnight Jan"..... ......................................."Goodnight Jan..............." Oh - yeah..........we also do the "good nites' and "I love you"''s for EVER.....until we end up screaming, "I love you all but knock it off!!!!!". he he. So pitiful.....hee hee.
