Guest guest
I could really use an advocate right now... My daughter's preschool just tried to take everything away from her for this upcoming last summer there, including the actual school! I got her summer school back by making them realize she DID regress over the two week holiday break, but they took away her speech therapy and the social worker* lied *and said she never told me she felt Em needed regular sessions with her and that it should be on the IEP right away so it will be there for kindergarten. I was dumbstruck! I can't believe these people can live with themselves! They also refused to add social skills therapy during the summer saying they don't add anything during the summer which is also a total *lie* I found out later. I talked to a higher up and we're having another meeting (maybe the speech therapist will stay at the meeting longer than 3 minutes this time). If that doesn't work I'm going to start yelling ADA discrimination because my friend is going through the same thing with them right now... her son is Asperger's and they say things to her like 'well, we understand that as a mother you want your child to achieve the most he can, but we don't have to do that.' Nice. Em's therapists and teacher look at their papers and just say 'normal... normal... normal! " They are skimming off the higher functioning kids to save money and use it for the other kids. Not fair I'm sorry! One disability is different from another and not more important. Are deaf people more important than blind people? F them!!! Guest guest
To be honest I am absolutely sick to death of these supposed professionals who are so narrow minded, don’t understand the law or children who are NOT neurotypical. GET AN ATTORNEY If I were ever to put my children in the prison of school I would hire an attorney to do all the paperwork prior. If you can’t afford one, then find someone who will barter, trade, you can do work for, save up…. There are resources out there, but we have to seak them out. I am so pissed that so many of you on this list have to be circus animals and jump through hoops to get what is rightfully yours and your child’s by law. When the hell is Oprah going to do a show on the realities of what has to be done in order to have our children treated in a humane way. I’m writing to Oprah…..
