Using a Colon Therapist for Constipation

Hi y'all. I hope you don't think I'm too stuck on the theme of

constipation--I'm the one who wrote about being enema dependant--but

I know I'm not the only one on this list with this problem.

As I also wrote, there is a great, 2-hour long phone interview on

the Body Ecology website with a colon therapist to discuss the

importance of colon cleansing in the detox process.

Well, my daily enemas were getting less and less " productive " ,

mostly returning water and leaving me still uncomfortable. Feeling

desperate that something had to change soon, at the end of last week

I looked up the website for the International Association of Colon

Therapists (www.i-act.org) which was mentioned on this BED interview.

In all of Tennessee there are maybe 10 folks who are part of this

Association, and only ONE of them is located relatively close to me

(1.5 hours away)! I looked up her website and was thrilled to read

her testimony of being healed about ten years back from her own

lifetime of constipation and leaky gut.

When I called and described my situation and what I've been doing

for my problem the past few months (daily water enemas), she

practically commanded me to stop doing the enemas right away. She

said the fact that only water was returning means that I've now

washed away all the good bacteria from my colon, so there's nothing

down there to help me do the necessary work of elimination. (So why

did the naturopath who advocated all-raw eating I used to go to

stress the importance of me doing coffee enemas every day? I did

those for a couple of years in the early 2000s.)

We've made an appointment for this coming Friday, 6/20 for a first

colon therapy treatment (probably on one of those machines I've only

heard vaguely about--sounds scary, but I'm desperate!). Meanwhile,

she assigned me to prep myself with the following regimen:

*Drink 3 CUPS (yes, cups!) of organic aloe vera JUICE daily

*First thing in the a.m., drink up to 32 oz. of warm water with the

juice of 4 fresh lemons to alkalinize my blood--warm keeps me from

feeling too full like cold would--stevia is allowed to make it less

bitter--supposed to use a straw to protect my tooth enamel. So far,

I'm stretching out this lemon drinking over the day.

*Take 1/2 t. of a super strong probiotic she gave me (it still

doesn't have as many strains as BioKult, but I can tell it's a good

one)

*Take 1 t. of l-glutamine in the morn, an amino acid which is

supposed to help intestinal function

*And before bedtime, take 4 120mg capsules of magnesium glycinate (a

form of citrate), increasing the dose by 2 more each night until

bowel tolerance is reached.

She told me this should work wonders quickly. Guess what? So far,

no " action " at all. I'm afraid I'm going to explode!

She also told me NOT to use any form of senna or psyllium husk,

which are irritating to the bowel.

I know aloe is not allowed on the GAPS diet, but at this point, I

think I'd drink Kool-Aide if someone told me it would help my

problem!

Obviously, just drinking lots of kefir and eating fermented

vegetables (probably 1 cup's worth) per day plus drinking kombucha

daily is not enough for someone with a gut in the same shape as

mine. Now I wonder about my little ones', to whom I'm giving about

a tablespoon of kefir grains twice a day. Is this enough?

In my next life, I want to have enough money to buy the supplements

we need for our children. Oh, but that's dumb! When we're in

heaven I know all this will be past worries that never arise again!

I'll keep y'all posted about what I learn from the colon therapist.

I'd like to discuss with her how what she does jives with what the

www.fibermenace.com guy talks about, b/c I don't think he's in favor

of colon therapy. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) Also, in my looking

around online, I came up with another interesting sounding website

on this subject, but it's an e-book and I can't buy it: www.stop-

constipation.com.
