Guest guest
No. People with autism can have an IQ anywhere - from low to high and in between. Functioning is not directly related to IQ, although if one has a low IQ, functioning will be less. For people with AS, the IQ is within the normal to above normal range only. Roxanna Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again. IQ? Re: ( ) Cure Is the main difference btwn classical autism and asperger's IQ? Is it low IQ that gives the intellectual disability and increased impairment? I do see your point - I am glad my son is not severely intellectually disabled - I would find that incredibly hard to deal with. We have some adults that live next door that need a carer 24 hours. My son was up on the fence chatting to them - he asked me why they "talk funny". I get a fright when they laugh or tantrum because it sounds so odd. Guest guest
I think what makes me smile is our clients are proof that just because some one has autism they cant love, or understand it, because they do in their own way, one of my clients who is non verbal Autistic love hugs, but she is also the firts one to punch you in the gut at a moments notice. I love them all, and they are happy adults, they get to go to concerts, and outings during the week, trips, bingo. I enjoy my job, but it gives you a whole new prespective on Aspergers. Guest guest
It takes a special kind of person to work with people that require high intensity care. Guest guest
I adore our clients, i am filled with laughter every day, i get more hugs than one person can imagine, and at our work softball games they are our biggest fans, they will also tell us when we suck! Lol! Yes there are bad days, when we get called names, told to f off, and hit kicked and punched but i just roll with it! All of our clients are adults, with the exception of one house. Marc started 50 years ago when schools didn't have a place for kids with disabilities. We started as a school and day care. When the schools started the se programs, we realized our kids were growing up and had no where to go to live a somewhat independent life. We offer so many services, soon a new program specifically for Autism! More to come on that as it develops!
