Guest guest
We buy him his own cans too! Oh, sometimes it is so funny how our kids can be so different on the spectrum but then have so many many things the same. Here is another funny story...I call them Aspie Moments...I keep them and one day I'll write a book..."My son and his Aspie Moments" The other day I sat at the ktichen table ...orgainizing my beads (I make jewelry) and my ankle was wrapped in a ace bandage as I hurt it again. My phone was on my dresser in my bedroom down the hall. My son was in the living room playing Xbox. My cell phone started ringing...son says..."MOm, your phone is ringing"...I reply..."can you run and get it?...my ankle hurts." He sighs (such hard work for a teenager )...he goes to get it....comes back down the hall and says it stopped ringing. So I wait and wait and finally say..."Where is my phone?" He says, "It stopped ringing so I didn't bring it out." I had to laugh to myself...like I would not want to see who called and call them back? That is when they are great...these Aspie moments keep me going! LOL. And, he still loves them. If I am cooking something that has black olives in the recipe he always asks me to give him a few to eat. In fact, I think I used to buy him his own can of them! When we went to the Olive Garden we would ask for a small bowl of them. He would put them on his 10 fingers and eat them. He is 14 and still loves them! RoxannaWhenever I feel blue, I start breathing again. ( ) Negative reaction to olives/olive oil Hi there,Have any of your dd/ds had negative reaction to olives/olive oil? My ds is 4.5, dx'ed with HSF also hyperlexic. We've been on GFCF for 5 months now with pretty good improvements.I've been thinking about adding fatty acids since he seems to not get enough of those in his diet, and they are supposed to be so good for you. Once in a while we'd eat at Fresh Choice or Sweet Tomatoes because you can choose non GC foods. He loves olives so I'd get some for him. It seems every time after he eats them, he'd be irritable and defiant, much more than usual. When I add olive oil in dishes he gets the same reaction. I've tested a couple of times and it's thesame every time. It's amazing how certain foods can trigger such specific behaviors. Since we've been on GFCF and his communication has improved so much. When we were back on GC to test if he'd be different, he sure was. It's now easier to spot these other things that just stand out. So with olive/oil, he was still spontaneously communicating, but his attitude was negative toward just about anything.
