SSDI is not income based meaning that you could be a millionaire but if you're disabled and you worked (and paid taxes) for a period of time you can get SSDI disability payments every month. SSI .. supplemental security income is disability payments for people who are low income or their SSDI isn't enough to reach " poverty cutoff " (in my case, i was so young I really hadn't worked much yet so I got SSDI and SSI initially). I heard about disabled children getting disability payments and when I called they said that my daughter can't get anything ... no SSI because my husband makes too much money. Sure doesn't feel like it since our medical expenses are on our credit cards and the monthly payments have us scrambling to get by every month.!!
