Guest guest
I'm new to the group. I have a ten year old son who hasn't been firmly diagnosed with AS (dx is ADHD/Gifted). He has severe food restrictions and phobias about being around certain foods, other sensory stuff includes soft clothing only, and he loves to chew ice. We homeschooled till this year, when it became obvious that he needed social intervention. He's quite bright, but can't really function in a group setting. He's at a way cool montessori school, with an aide, and they are very committed to working with him. Some days are easier than others. Today, he announced he wasn't going to school, but I got him in the car and in school. Of course, I get THE phone call at about 11:15 that he was aggressive, and that he needs to come home. The school cares for him deeply; when he's in a good mood, there is no cooler kid. But, when he's not, hoo boy. I hope to learn from other parents about ways to help him even himself out, so that the world can see what I see. Onward and upward,
