Guest guest
Dear Aspergers Network: Is there anything for adults? I have been let go from my last job and I have the same problems that I had when I started working. Problems interacting with others at work in a positive way, making "friends", and knowing how people were supposed to interact on a positive and continuing way has always been a problem for me. Guest guest
Do you have a DX of AS? You may be able to qualify for some help thru your states development disabilities depart. Do you have insurance to see a therapist to help? If not you may be able to try to get medicad and from there work toward other state services. best of luck to you! Guest guest
Great question. My son is older now and I'm thinking about how to help him transition to being an adult. He has great potential, but awful social skills. I've found AS adults with similar issues about work on the GRASP online support groups so that is a good place for you to go. If you are lucky you may live in an area that has a GRASP group that can meet in person. We live in California and if someone qualifies for help under the local Regional Center, then the Regional Center will provide a life coach or job coach in some situations. But our local Regional Center rarely provides help for people with AS. Other places in the state are more supportive when it comes to AS. Are there any schools for AS in your area? The one close to us has a support group for adults with AS and I've found them to be a wonderful source of info. Hang in there.
