Guest guest
There's a book called Freaks, Geeks and Aspergers Syndrome which is a good teen book -- http://www.amazon.com/Freaks-Geeks-Asperger-Syndrome-Adolescence/dp/1843100983/r\ ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & s=books & qid=1283961699 & sr=8-1 It's written mainly by a teen with Aspergers and touches on a lot of useful issues. I was initially put off by the title, but as it comes from a kid who has been called a freak and a geek, it makes more sense once you get into the book... I thought we might be able to escape the Aspergers diagnosis but as the years went by social issues became more of an issue along with other things. > > With that said, things have improved a bit with the school on board and extra help. > > We have talked about girls with our son and he had the father/son " talk " with my husband. Guest guest
Here are three good books: Socially Curious and Curiously Social by Winner. Growing up on the spectrum by Lynn Kern Koegel Asperger Syndrome and Bullying by Nicck Dubin I also really like this book for my son (teenager with Aspergers) because it gives brief bios of successful, famous people who are thought to have Aspergers. He found a lot of inspiration in it as did I. Asperger's Syndrome and High Achievement by Ioan . Hope this helps. carol > > > > Hello Everyone, > > I'm new to the group but not new to Autism/Aspergers. Guest guest
I agree with Carol. The three books she listed are excellent. There are very good books on this website... http://www.socialthinking.com/home Since your son is 14 (mine is 13), I recommend " A 5 is Against the Law " available on this site as well. Good luck! ~ne > > > > > > Hello Everyone, > > > I'm new to the group but not new to Autism/Aspergers.
