Guest guest
I am so guilty of not cutting and pasting - sorry everyone I hit send before cropping my msg!! And forgot to sign it. I am sleep deprived!! I wanted to say I feel like I know you all even tho I don't take part of the conversations because you all are going through similiar things. Its so nice not to be alone, especially when I have an 11 yo having a tantrum or meltdown - whatever you want to call it. Before I thought he was just socially immature because i babied him - but now I am realizing that he processes things differently and doesn't get the unspoken things I take for granted. he sees everything in black and white and I see things in a big interpretive grey zone. Anyways I am sleepilly rambling. Goodnight, Anne in Maine < > Sent: Sat, Feb 5, 2011 6:58 pm Subject: Messages, Maine, and Menstruation Hi, I don't write much because I have a newborn, toddler and 11 yo w/ as. So I get little sleep and there is alot going on at all times with the constant needs for attention from all. I get the digest version of the group and I would appreciate it if when we respond to a post we could cut and paste what its in reference to. I skim the topics and read what might be helpful to my newly diagnosed son (with possible adhd the non hyperactive type). Its all very overwhelming at times, I am glad to know I am not alone thats why I read the posts even if I don't have time to respond. I recall someone saying they were in Maine. We live in Maine, and if you know of any services out here that would be helpful please let me know. We are new to the area and aspergers. To the mom of the 11 yo dd who started menstruating, My son doesn't like to talk about personal issues such as his upcoming puberty, so I found talking to him but not expecting a response helped (he listens but is too embarassed to say he is curious). He does love to read and go on the internet so I googled puberty and found some good age appropriate sites. I think one was about.com. When I was pregnant with my 2 yo, I got an age appropriate book from the library for him about babies and left it out in the living room and it took two weeks but he finally picked it up and read it. He has been referred to a neuro-psychiatrist - what do they do exactly in reference to as and possible adhd?? Anne in ME

Re: ( ) Sort of Changed topic / WAS : son depressed?/online schools Date: Tuesday, February 1, 2011, 8:03 AM That's Ok, I know it's confusing! I was thinking of how to sign my name so I wouldn't get confused with "ne with the s." I am in Michigan, so maybe I should sign "Suz from MI?" But I guess I am a little stuck in my ways too, I've always just been Suzanne since I was little, not Suzie or Sue. I'll leave it up the you guys. If you get me confused with ne, that's OK. She's nice. Suzanne (from MI) Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry® From: and/or Robin Lemke <jrisjs@...> Sender:
Guest guest
For us the neuropsych was a one time eval done over a 2 day period. The final report gave us insight as to what were my son's issues and what he needed to succeed. The doc had asked us what were looking to get out of the report and I mentioned that I wanted to know what needed to succeed in school. So the doc included a very detailed section on supports needed in school. It was a fantastic report and helped guide us through many IEP's. On puberty, I found the " AMA's Boy's Guide to becoming a teenager " book helpful. I believe that they have a similar one for girls. It's aimed at preteens and deals with puberty and some social aspects of becoming a teen. My son found the book helpful.
