My son is 9 and hates to go outside ... he goes to camp, school -etc and doesn't

complain but on the weekend when we want to do family things he gives us a hard

time...

Yesterday - my husband and I though mini-golf would be fun... My son is not at

all athletic .. has poor balance and low tone... but mini golf isn't really

sports and we wouldn't even be keeping score...

He had a huge meltdown just at the suggestion so we gave him a time out to calm

down. When we were ready to go I told him it was time and he was calm and had

given in to the fact that we were going ...

We went and had a good time .. He enjoyed it and when I asked why he didn't want

to go he admitted that he was a afraid he wouldn't be good at it but realized he

was okay at it afterall.

This is typical ... it's like we have to get over a huge hump in order to get

anywhere -- literally and figuratively.

After mini-golf we went to the movies and then to pick up a game he wanted at

gamestop. He counts " stops " ... meaning how many times we stop in the car and

gets frustrated with the increasing number of stops. He just can't wait to get

back home.
