Exactly Connie. I tell myself that if Liz has AS she has it, and she would with or without the dx. I would rather have the dx.

I'm with you 2 as well, when we found out I was SO relieved to have a name for what I was seeing - and super happy to know what direction to go in! Also, we cried for his future of uncertainty but we also know it's in our power to influence and change it drastically from what it would have been with no intervention. It's not a death sentence. I didn't like that portrayal so much cuz that is still the same child. Putting a name to behaviors doesn't invalidate the child. Connie

Laurel, I agree! A dx will definitely bring relief for my family at this point. So many things are making sense now, and if the dx is AS, we will be able to work on solutions instead of wondering "why is she doing that?"

I finally caught the first two episodes so I know what you are all talking about! Amazing how Asperger's manifests itself in different ways.I couldn't relate to the family's reaction to it as a death sentence. When we got the diagnosis, I was so relieved! There was finally a name to all the little quirks, it all made sense, and it was a diagnosable condition that you could treat.Also, I wish the doc had a few lines to elaborate on what it is. If this dx is in here partly for awareness, then say what it is! It's a neurological problem! It affects social skills and coordination/ muscle tone! Say something! I'm already sucked in to all the other plot lines, so i'd say this is a good one. Finally, Krause is pretty yummy. Who knew? (And, did he lose weight between the pilot and the 2nd episode?)Laurel
