Guest guest
I just learned that my 7 year old can not recognize male or female voices and wanted to find out if this is common with AS kids. Let me know if any of you have experienced the same and if there is an advice as to how to help him learn to distiguish male and female voices. Thanks you... Guest guest
My son is the opposite - he can tell the difference, and he only likes female voices. At church he says he only wants the Mommies to sing. Your son's problem may have to do with auditory processing; when we had some basic auditory testing done by a speech pathologist, she found that my son has more trouble understanding words spoken in lower tones, so that might be why he does not like male voices. Have you had CAPD testing done by an audiologist? (my son is still too young which is why we went to a SLP, but at 7, your son should be getting into the right age range to be evaluated by an audiologist). There is likely some sort of listening therapy that could be done if they can determine the reason that he cannot discriminate between male and female voices.
