I also worry about my 5 year old.Who barely eats enough to keep a bird alive... I have tried to introduce healthy foods, trying to stay away from the processed foods, but if I do that she won't eat anything.. Hot Dogs,Balogna,Mac and cheese, meatballs in speg o's,spegetti, broiled steak, McD's Double Cheese burgers corn, that's about it... She loves fresh fruit,blackberries,strawberries,watermelon..And 1% Chocolate milk. I have tried the taste something, but so far nothing, she won't even try it.. It's very stressful. I hope that when she is older she might start trying a few things. I keep trying, but so far nothing..

Best of Luck to you!

good luck on the answers for this one.wehave been trying to change my daughters eating habits for years, with no luck.her menu items consist of, hot dogs (no buns), chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese (only a specific brand, and trust me, she can tell the difference), hamburgers (and God help us if a pickle is on it) grilled cheese, toast, balogna, certain cereals (no milk) and turkey sausage. THATS IT !!wew have tried everyones suggestions to try different things and nothing has worked. she knows the difference and will starve, rather than eat.one thing we have done though was getting our daughter to agree to try something once, even if its not familiar. if she doesnt like it, we have agreed to let her spit it out int a napkin (politely of course).but she "has" to try at least one bite. we have gotten her to at least eat some thing occasionally (like baby uncooked carrots). and in with vitamins we have been able to sneak in the

v8 fusion juice (diet one). each glass gives her a serving of vegetables. so at least we get that one by her. and shes none the wiser.maybe that would work with your child. just get them to agree to try something once. >> What do I do about my son's picky eating? He barely eats anything at all. Any suggestions?>

We used to do the one-bite rule at our house. Dylan just had to take one bite, that was it. And I would never try to talk him into liking something, I'd just keep it matter-of-fact that it was one bite. I'm glad I did this b/c he's a little more willing to try things now that he's older without having to have a "rule" in place. If I had just let him eat whatever he wanted and avoid everything else, I think he would've been stuck in a "I don't try anything I don't like" rut and it would've been much harder to change when he was older. We started this when he was 5 (at the suggestion of our psychologist at the time) and he's now 13.

Dear Dolly Jane:

I know my Sisters problems with her kids and I can see the problems with My brothers son. At least the milk and fresh fruit are going in. The human body is supposed to need more veggies that most 20th / 21th cent bodies get now. I also remember my mom was adamant that she was not running a restaurant for us.
