Guest guest
We've used meds for both our two ds's with hfa off and on over the years and nobody ever "crashed" off their meds. I think some people can have a bad experience or problem but if you are working with a good doc, it is not a normal experience or to be expected. I wonder how that got started? I bet due to some of the ADHD meds where they wear off at the end of the day - or used to anyway? Maybe? Or a way to advertise another cure or fix other than meds. We just this week started a new ADHD med and I hate to say anything so soon but OMG! It is working so well. I didn't realize how hard we were struggling here even until it's not a problem anymore. He says he feels "clear" for the first time. And he is doing his school work without me having to walk him through each step. school has been so hard for ME because I have to go through everything with him - it's a full time job in itself. So I am hoping this lasts a while. I did not realize how many things the attention and hyperactivity affects. I mean, we "know" but it's a whole 'nother thing when you see it in real life. This med is "focalin". Roxanna May those who love us, love us And those who don't love us, May God turn their hearts And if he can't turn their hearts, May he turn their ankles So we will know them by their limping! [1 Attachment] [Attachment(s) from Robyn Iuliano included below] We have found meds have made our son worse over the years so we went to DAN doc who put him on Feingold Diet and GFCF......amazing difference and no crashing off meds! Seek a DAN doc.....most take insurance too. He used to have regular explosions and violent behavior. His behavior has improved since going on Abilify. There could still stand to be more improvement though and the doctor has suggested maybe adding Lamictal, which is one of the newer generation mood stabilizers. We haven’t added it yet because we want to see what the full effect of the Abilify would be. But his behavior has definitely improved greatly from what it was. His psychiatrist said that they often use Abilify and Lamictal together because they work well together. Kay
