Guest guest
This is an interesting discussion. I also have no joint destruction visible on the x-rays, but are on mtx. When I asked my doctor why, she said it was to prevent other joint to become infected. So it is supposed to slow down (stop?) the process I guess. But the stupid thing about that is that you ever know if it works, since the process is not stopped (in my case), but maybe slowed down. So when are you ever supposed to get off of this medication. Does anybody know more about this? Guest guest
That is a good question. Unlike you my back, neck, hands and feet all show destruction, among several other body parts. How about the tendons and ligaments - are they showing up on the test - or only bone? The pain is a big issue, but since there is no joint destruction going on, I would question the diagnosis with my MD before going on DMARDS. You sure are sharp! Guest guest
You can stop the methotrexate anytime to see for yourself if a flare occurs. However, there is always the risk that it will not work the next time you start it. This is a big risk, since it is a really good choice for drugs for PA.
