Hi ,

Cyntha found her way to our group, we have wracked our brains trying to

get her a good Lyme doctor, but the consensus is she is going to have to

find an open-minded doctor and train him via Dr Burrascano's protocols. It

is so hard, we are pretty sure the kids have congenital Lyme too, they all

need treatment and soon.

lol...this is kind of funny. and I were chatting on her chat page

and she sent this. But you know what you are a peach for wanting to

help. Marta you are probably right even though I don't like that scenerio.

But a little bit of hope and good news. The Celexa is helping with the

depression, helping to keep the stress down. So I have felt a little better

the last few days. But I know it is only temporary. I have convinced the

doctor that I have seen twice now that diagnosed me with CFS that it has to

be more because of the seizures I have been having. Miniture ones and some

in January that I had. He is willing to look elsewhere. I get to go

through a eeg, sleep lab test soon. Don't know when exactly yet. What fun.

Bad news thus far I haven't convinced him yet that it is lyme..whenever I

mention it to him his reaction is " Lyme is so rare in Idaho and it is so

contreversial. " So wish me luck on convincing him. I will stay with him

for a bit longer. Because for once I feel I may be getting somewhere....Now

just to convince him that I really do have it. Instinct tells me this is

what it is. I appreciate all the friendship and all that is to come. I

hope things will improve on this end. I am getting my fighting gear on.

Sadly not so much for myself as for my children.

Thanks,

Hi Cyntha,

I am so glad you are being helped by Celexa, and hopefully the studies

you will have done may shed some light on this. Your doctor is sure right

about the controversy. Maddening isn't it! I really am understanding how

the poor AIDS patient's felt when they were becoming ill and no one would

listen, of course when they began dying by the thousand someone had to see

there was a problem.

I know this so well......it's awful and it feels like

it will never end. I too have Hashimotos and it knocks

you around for a while, until the meds kick in. I've

been on thyroxine for about six weeks and I am already

feeling good. My doctor stressed the importance of

consistency with taking it, and I've noticed that it's

only around that time of the month that I have any

major issues (extreme tiredness, to the point of

needing to sleep 12 hours each day).

I don't know where you are, but there is an excellent

support group on the internet (based in Australia) at

www.thyroid.org.au. I am a member now and they are

just brilliant. They have " counsellors " there who are

hypothyroid patients with extensive personal histories

and who've done lots of research of the disease. These

people are the ones who answer the queries and who

talk in plain English, not doctor speak.

Hi,

One thing that has helped me immensely with allergies--I used to have tons of them!--is NAET. It is pretty much like Space Age medicine for clearing allergies! None of those "scratch 'n sniff" tests, I call 'em! Or rotation diets. Or avoiding. Or wrapping yourself in a bubble and bringing your own food to every potluck. NAET is quick, relatively inexpensive (depending on the fee structure of the health care provider you find who is trained in it), non-invasive, and long lasting. In my former life, a few years ago, I had SO many food allergies that I was down to being able to eat only rice and steamed celery. Couldn't take vitamins because of the binders, etc. I felt I was dying! But then my chiro got training in NAET and we've been working our way through the clearings and I feel so amazingly better! I can eat practically anything now! I'm back to taking vitamins! They can also clear allergies to pollen, cat and dog hair, dust, medicines, hormones, metals, etc. The doc who developed this technique was an extreme allergy sufferer herself so she figured this out in her quest to help herself be able to eat more than steamed rice and carrots.

Here's the link: www.naet.com. You can find a practitioner at the website or maybe even notice if a chiro, nutritionist, alternative health focused MD or DO, naturpath, etc., has training in it.

Good luck! in LA

What you are looking for is a three to four week stay at the Optimum Health

Institute in CA or Texas. They should heal you while you are there with no

supplements. Just the seven most healing foods in this planet, including

wheatgrass juice. I went with the threat of nodules on my voice box, thyroiditis

and a whole host of other disorders including Lymes Disease. At the resort you

also take classes on how to incorporate the program at home. If you can afford

it I highly recommend going to the CA one for three weeks. Then flying to Texas

for one week.

Additionally I recommend you reading " Everything you wanted to know about Lymes

Disease " it sounds a lot like Lymes. Lymes is seldom checked. This book will

answer a lot of questions. Your Library should have ot.

Thanks for the info. I assume they have a website, so I'll check it

out. I'll also check on the book on Lymes you mentioned. However,

all my blood work, etc. shows definite Lupus. Lupus can do a lot of

damage to any and all parts of the body, but it doesn't hurt to do a

little research in other areas.

Thanks and blessings to you,

Amy,

Please don't worry about AIDS and these other things. Many, many women

with sytemic candida developed it from antibiotics or being on the birth

control pill ( or other hormones ). You are getting sketchy information

on the net so far. I have candida from being on the birth control for

many years, followed by pregnancies and hormone supplementation. The

candida just got out of control and is now living in my intestines. This

is a great group to get info. and advice from. Please know you're not

alone.

But, do you know of anyone who had Candida Esophagittis? I really

need to hear that. And, someone who isn't terminally ill. I have

just emotionally lost it today. I can't get a hold of myself. Thank

you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate it.

Amy,

Here are some basics on your particular problem, but It is probably

not related to anything more than a candida overgrowth in your

throat. Candida can colonize anywhere, which is why babies will get

thrush, etc.

At this point, I would not get too anxious about it, especially if

you are seeing a doctor. He may want to treat you with Fluconazole

or something like that, but you may want to try cutting out all

sugars and gargling with Hydrogen Peroxide for a few days to see if

that helps it.

The medications from the doctors are generally only a short term

solution to the symptom.

Take care and try to start the new year off happy.

Candida Esophagitis

[Home] [Knowledge for Everyone]

----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------

What Is It?

Symptoms

What your doctor looks for

Prevention

Treatment

When to call your doctor

Prognosis

What Is It?

Candida esophagitis is a yeast infection in the esophagus, caused by

the same troublesome fungus that produces oral thrush and vaginal

yeast infections. A classic " opportunistic " infection (so named

because it tends to develop when the body's defenses are already

weakened by illness), it is almost always a complication of another

disease-most commonly, infection with HIV, the immune system-

compromising virus that causes AIDS.

A diagnosis of Candida esophagitis does not mean that you have HIV,

or that you are going to develop AIDS. Cancer (and chemotherapy to

treat it), poorly controlled diabetes, inadequate nutrition, a

chronic illness, and even drug or alcohol abuse can also hamper the

body's immune system and allow Candida esophagitis to develop. Some

people are prone to recurrent Candida infections.

Symptoms

· Difficulty, mild discomfort or severe pain during swallowing

· A feeling that food gets stuck on its way down after you

swallow

· Nausea

· Loss of appetite.

What your doctor looks for

Oral thrush, a yeast infection that may be visible in an examination

of your throat; or the telltale white, cheesy patches of Candida

plaques (splotches of yeast infection in your esophagus), visible

during endoscopy; positive results of a biopsy of the cells lining

your esophagus.

Prevention

Be sure to give your doctor a detailed medical history. Often, when

the history suggests that Candida esophagitis is a likely

possibility, doctors prefer to take the less invasive approach by

treating with antifungal medications for a week to 10 days, and

performing endoscopy only if the symptoms persist.

Treatment

The goal is to kill the fungus, and the drugs that do this are

called " antifungal " agents. Depending on the severity of your

symptoms, you may receive treatment orally-in the form of a pill, if

you are able to swallow it, or a medicated, " nonabsorbable " wafer

(which, like a cough drop, stays in the mouth until it dissolves)-or

intravenously (which may require hospitalization). The mainstay of

treatment is oral nystatin in wafer form, taken four times a day;

clotrimazole (Mycelex) is also used in this manner. Drugs in pill

form include ketoconazole and fluconazole. Intravenous antifungal

agents include amphotericin B.

When to call your doctor

If you have trouble or pain on swallowing that lasts more than a day

or two, call your physician. The risks in waiting are becoming

dehydrated and malnourished, and-equally serious-of developing a

systemic (spread throughout the body) infection.

Prognosis

This depends on the underlying condition. If, for example, Candida

esophagitis is caused by poorly regulated diabetes, it will likely

improve as the diabetes is brought under control. If it's the result

of a temporary breach in the immune system-by chemotherapy to treat

cancer, perhaps-here again, as the body's defenses grow stronger, the

infection's foothold should diminish. If, however, the fungal

infection results from HIV, Candida esophagitis may be a recurrent-

although treatable-problem.

I am not terminally ill... I just suffer from all the symptoms of candida.

Candida can manifest in the mouth which is called thrush, so it can also

manifest in the esophagus. Basically, it can plant itself just about

anywhere that is moist... including your sinuses. I hope you feel better

soon. Please know that everyone has candida... it's a part of our body.

Just some of us have too much candida which is called " overgrowth. " Now,

you are on the road to minimizing your candida. Please don't be hard on

yourself. You will be okay. Please see www.naturalhealingsolutions.com

(as a starting point). There are many other good places/books to resort

to for info. (one being this group :):)

Hi, We all have some form of candida, be thankful your doctor told you it is

yeast!!Most don't have a clue.First thing to do is stop eating sugar and complex

carbs. It is like the Dr. Atkins diet there is so much info this group can give

you. One other thing to do is read up on getting you pH level back eating

veggies more and less protein from meats eat more fish. Try not to stress it

only makes it worse. Good Luck Ruth " walkerab <awalker@...> "

That's the great thing about homeopathy, . Your practitioner doesn't have

to be local. In fact there are so few true classical homeopaths that it's rare

to find one locally.

I live in a rural area, too. Our homeopath is 1000+ miles away. We communicate

via email and/or telephone.

Sheri N. can give you recommendations for a homeopath. In which state do you

live?

A great introduction to homeopathy is in the book, " Impossible Cure: The Promise

of Homeopathy " by Amy Lansky

And the book Sheri N. uses in her online introduction course to homeopathy

(which I HIGHLY recommend) is, " The Complete Homeopathy Handbook " by Miranda

Castro.

ANd the other nice thing about homeopathy is they aren't worried about a name or

diagnosis for a set of symptoms. Homeopathy treats the entire person, not a

particular disease.

Hope that helps some. If you have additional questions, feel free to ask! : )

looking for help

I live in a rural area and was wondering how I could find a homeopathy

Does anyone know of a good book about homeopathy

Does anyone know of a good book about homeopathy remedies

Does anyone know of some symptoms of hypothyroid

Look online or in the phone book...online has official bodies and

their registered members. look at credentials and talk by phone to

assess whether you like the sound of them.

Helios uk have a helpline about things like this, trained staff giving

advise on remedies if you're in the uk.

My husbands nan had hypothyroid but I'm not sure if things vary

obviously. She had it identified by a consultant, it took a while to

get confirmation. She had general symptoms and a lot of pains and

they put her on treatment officially.

Susie, I can assure you that you get the best of care in Mexico! I even took my daughter to Mexico to have breast augmentation and a chin implant. It's not that she is just vain. We used to joke that she had 2 beebees on an ironing board. She is very tall (6 ft) and is all hips! No upper body at all. Before surgery she wore size 12 pants and a 4 top! Today not yet 2 months postop she is very happy and you can't even tell she had surgery on her breasts. The chin is still a little bruised. I guess my point is I didn't think twice about myself, but I was confident enough to take my daughter. I guess that's really not true, I did think about myself as I am a widow and didn't want to leave my girls. But as I said before I was overcome with a calm that I couldn't believe once seeing the hospital and meeting the staff. I have been trying for 10 years to get this done with no luck because of the cost of the surgery. I only wanted a gastric bypass done but started hearing about lap band. I need to lose 100 pounds to better my health and my life. My health has deteriorated so badly. I am 39 years old now and would like a chance to live some of my life a little slimmer and lighter. I am scared to go to Mexico as I only hear horror stories. Can someone help me with some

truthful information about having this done in Mexico by this Doctor that I know nothing about. Thank you for your time.SusieVirginia

Hi Susie'

My name is GInger and I live in Texas. I am having surgery on April 19th with

Dr. Aceves. I have been researching this since '02. Like you I tried for

almost 4 years to get my insurance to approve and finally gave up. Then last

month on a lark I saw and add for medical financing and applied and was

approved. I couldn't believe it. I have been reading about different MD's and

reading different posts and I feel Very confident in my decision to go to

Mexico. It is costing me 8200.00. I recommend you get on line and research as

many MD's as you can. If you want I will email you when I get back or we can

talk on the phone and I will give you details. I am an RN and a freak about

cleanlyness! So, they will have to be on their toes (ha-Ha). Good luck with your

search. Ginger

Hi Susie,

You have come to the right place!!! Everyone who has

had the surgery on this message board has had lapband

surgery in Mexico by Dr. Aceves! (almost) If you read

the messages daily, you will learn a lot about Dr.

Aceves and his team AND about the Almater hospital in

Mexicali. In the 9 months I have been reading and

writing on this message board I have not heard 1

horror story and nothing but praise for Dr. Aceves and

his staff. First hand I can tell you that I would go

to Mexicali and have Dr. Aceves do surgery on me if I

needed it anytime! Check out some of the people's

journals and be assured the writings on this board are

not " canned " testimonials but just people talking

about their real experiences with their lapband

surgery.

Best wishes to you in your research and ask any

questions you want on here and someone WILL answer!

-Hi Ginger,

I was just reading around on the sight and noticed that we have the

same surgery date on April 19th. I live in Washington and will be

flying into San Diego on the 18th. Are you doing anything to get

your body ready for surgery? I am getting really excited, bit am

nervous as well. I will be coming with my Mother-in-law so I won't

have to come alone. My husband is staying home with our four boys.

Are you coming with anyone? Maybe we can meet, and then be email

buddies after we are banded.
