Can anyone recommend some good literature to try and help me figure this out? Also, I would love some good literature on how to help others understand, ie the Girl Scout leader who thinks I'm plum crazy. Thanks bunches! Guest guest
There are a lot publications and websites with information about AS, but I like the book " All Cats Have Aspergers " - It's a picture book written for children. It would be ideal to share with her classroom or with the other girls in the Girl Scout troop. I used to be a Girl Scout leader myself and so if you continue to meet some resistance from the leader, I recommend contacting the local Girl Scout Council and they will work with the leader to train her. They have a lot of information on working with kids with special needs. Try searching for online booklets, articles, or letters to teachers that some of the websites for AS have. The information for teachers may help teachers and other people who work with your child understand how your child sees the world. slaw is good. Also recommended are the websites for Tony Attwood, OASYS, WrongPlanet.net.
