It there some kind of computer program that has a real person talking on the other end to the child? Thanks

Guest guest
Wilma, You did not say where you are located. There is a wonderful tutor in Dallas who is extremely reasonable. I strongly suggest you read the book on RPM. Another possiblitiy would be tutoring via Skype. How old is your daughter, what are her learning difficulties, what are her present levels of performance, age etc...? As far as tutoring via Skype, your daughter would have to be able to " attend, " that is focus and absorb what is being said. Many children with autism have difficulty processing oral information, so this might be difficult. However, using Skype helped my son acquire reciprocal language skills. Guest guest
I haven't heard of anything like that, but my son really likes time4learning. It is about 20 a month and so very worth it. There is a primary focus on math and language arts with some social studies and science. The math and language arts programs are very comprehensive from what I can tell. It is a combination of interactive tutorials and educational games that support the tutorials. There are also quizzes and tests. I am personally highly impressed with the program as it seems to give the child a little more control in the learning process which has improved my son's confidence with the material. > > I am looking for an online program for homeschooling my child. Guest guest
she is 11. has so much anxiety (ocd) that she was home bound. the only thing that may help is if she sees or hears another person on the other end of the computer that she has to listen to. i can't get her to do anything for me. she is too unfocused and agitated. she does better with others. Guest guest
It is sad you are in NJ and so far away. We have a wonderful tutor who I think could help. I know there are many from NJ whohave gone to HALO in Austin, Texas to learn RPM. Try to find an RPM tutor in NJ. Go to www.soma-halo.org and contact them and see if they can't let you know of an RPM tutor near you. If she is unfocused, I think she will need an in-person tutor. I think RPM can work for her. Guest guest
RPM stands for Rapid Prompting Method developed by Dr. Soma *Mukhopadhyay to teach her son Tito who is severely autistic. It turned out that he is pretty much a genius and he has written three books. Soma also wrote a book about RPM and how to do it. *
Guest guest
Mcfarland School District in Wisconsin has a virtual learning academy. It may be Wisconsin only but they may be able to let you know if someone is offering it in your state. See www.k12.com/wiva/home. Guest guest
A friend of mine recommends this site - http://www.learningupgrade.com/html/cucomprehension.htm?OVRAW=Reading%20Comprehe\ nsion & OVKEY=reading%20comprehension & OVMTC=standard & OVADID=4134357011 & OVKWID=1062\ 0437011 She used it for tutoring her boys, they didn't have ASP, but struggled in school as they both had ADHD. I haven't checked it out myself yet, but plan to. > > I am looking for an online program for homeschooling my child. It is really hard for her.
