Guest guest
Stress is very difficult.I even went to a stress clinic specifically for parents of kids w/disabilities.It wasn't too terribly helpful but the fact is that you do need to always make time for yourself -- even if it's just to watch a soap opera or a movie....A good thing to do is deep breathing -- particularly at night when you are going to sleep -- it always helps me fall asleep faster and deeper. Date: Wednesday, December 30, 2009, 12:12 PM Hi,I feel stress out when my aspie girl has temper tantrums, challenges me, do not take her medicine, slammed the doors etc, etc. To this stress is added also the stress of dealing with doctors, therapists, schools, other people complaining about her behave, bills, no help by the school, job problem etc, etc.How you guys manage it? my body resents it by having panic attacks or something else that doctors are not able to diagnosed my condition yet. When I have an episode of chest pain and fast heart beat I feel I am just going to drop dead, after the pain is over the muscle on my chest get swollen and hurt for a few days. I have been in the hospital twice this month, doctors do not have a clue, right now I am hooked up to a monitor to check for arrhythmia and I am trying no to get stress out, but stress is inevitable for parents of aspies. I was taking activan, but this medicine does not work anymore for me.Tomorrow is a full moon, I notice that she gets very bad when the moon is full. How your guys deal with stress?Thank you on advance for your inputs,
Guest guest
There are meds that can help with anxiety and panic attacks. Talk to your doctor if you are interested in going that route. > > Hi, > > I feel stress out when my aspie girl has temper tantrums, challenges me, do not take her medicine, slammed the doors etc, etc. To this stress is added also the stress of dealing with doctors, therapists, schools, other people complaining about her behave, bills, no help by the school, job problem etc, etc. > > How you guys manage it? my body resents it by having panic attacks or something else that doctors are not able to diagnosed my condition yet. Guest guest
I was highly anxious until my daughter got classified. I would stay up late reading all kinds of books trying to educate myself on treatment plans. It was awful coping with the school and their attacks on me. I had an advocate go with me to meetings and that helped me cope and also get what my daughter needed. I think getting my daughter's school situation better helped the most. Then having her anxiety reduced with medication also reduced my stress alot because my family noticed the difference and I was no longer criticized for poor parenting. I agree with you it is very stressful. I have to just not care what people think about us in public. This is much easier in places where people don't know us. In places where people know us I too am very devastated by her behavior. I can't afford to see a therapist for myself anymore but it did really help to talk about all the difficulties. I find that this group really helps me problem solve and feel better about difficult situations. People here in our group do understand and that has helped me so much. I hope 2010 is a better year for you. Happy New Year.
